Job Description Marine Compliance Manager & Deputy DPA
A leading UK-based company is seeking a Marine Compliance Manager & Deputy Designated Person Ashore (DPA) to support the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of its marine fleet.
Key Responsibilities: Act as Deputy DPA and Deputy Company Security Officer, including out-of-hours coverage. Support the ongoing development and management of the Safety Management System (SMS) in line with ISM Code requirements. Lead and support incident investigations, drive corrective actions, and promote continuous improvement. Draft and manage safety-related documentation, including policies, procedures, and risk assessments. Conduct and coordinate internal ISM and ISPS audits. Liaise with regulatory bodies, flag states, port authorities, and classification societies. Provide onboard coaching and compliance assurance to sea staff. Offer technical marine input to internal stakeholders regarding port and berth operations. Candidate Profile: Chief Mate Unlimited (or higher) Certificate of Competency. Significant seafaring experience in a senior role Shore-based maritime compliance or SMS experience preferred. Knowledge of specialised ship types or marine aggregate industry is advantageous. Full UK driving licence and EU work eligibility required. Degree in a marine-related subject is desirable.
