PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To inspect cargo damaged in transit and determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages; to review documents to determine when the cargo was damaged; and to provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss.

If you have a strong background in handling cargo claims, hull and machinery, yacht damage assessments, or investigating marine equipment failures, this opportunity is designed for you. In this role, you’ll conduct independent evaluations to determine the nature, cause, and extent of damage. This position offers the chance to work across diverse marine cases, collaborate with global clients, and contribute to high-impact reporting within Sedgwick’s Marine Division.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE
Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages as they are loaded and/or unloaded.
Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.
Travels as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $80,000.00 – $110,000.00 USD annual salary. Commission eligible role. A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401k and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
