This position is for Parker Hannifin’s Composite Sealing Systems Division, located in San Diego (Otay Mesa), California. The standard work hours are from 5:00am to 1:30pm for 1st shift and 2:30pm to 11:00pm for 2nd shift.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Manufacturing Support Associate builds on core production responsibilities by mastering multiple manufacturing processes and supporting daily operations with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity. This role includes interpreting blueprints, performing in-process inspections, and ensuring proper handling of adhesives and solvents. The associate actively engages in continuous improvement efforts, supports team production goals, and contributes to customer satisfaction through reliable and efficient performance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
+ Safely operate rubber mill, rubber shear, and extruder to prep raw material for production.
+ Safely operate different classes of forklifts to move raw material, as needed.
+ Weigh raw material, record, and enter data into tracking system.
+ Produce quality sealing parts using metal and rubber components to meet customer demand.
+ Follow protocols to reduce waste and scrap.
+ Read and interpret route sheets and blueprints to ensure process flow and quality parts.
+ Using a day-by-hour tracking system, actively participate with the team to ensure daily goals are met.
+ Enter team data tracking using Infinity QS (SPC Standard Edition) or similar database.
+ Read specifications and inspect finished products for conformance to specifications.
+ Handle, apply, store, and dispose adhesives sealants, resins and solvents of composite materials.
+ Trim off excess material/rubber “flash” using hand tools.
+ Perform a variety of tasks which require knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials, tools and equipment.
+ Create and promote a safe work environment and enforce the safety policy for themselves as well as for those around them.
+ Comply with Parker's Quality policy and processes to ensure compliance to ISO, AS and MS certifications.
+ Collaborate with team members, complete charts, and actively participate in High-Performance Teams (HPT) to drive continuous improvement initiatives, enhance operational efficiency.
+ Provide support to complete BARNs for concluded HPT projects.
+ Mastery of two of the core manufacturing processes.
+ Follow established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area.
+ Perform other duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
+ High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
+ Certified Operator Program
Experience:
+ 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
+ 1+ year of experience operating rubber mill or rubber shear, preferred
Skills:
+ Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
+ Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interests, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
+ Ability to read and understand bar graphs for department metrics.
+ Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
+ Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
+ Ability to work and train from verbal and written instructions.
+ Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
+ Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety.
+ Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for measurements and quantities.
+ Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work assignments in a fast-paced setting.
+ Ability to understand and adhere to quality standards in production processes.
+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues.
Physical Demands:
+ Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly.
+ Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to use hands and fingers for detailed work over extended periods of time.
+ Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a focus on accuracy and efficiency for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to wear required PPE throughout the entirety of the shift.
+ Ability to use power tools and heavy machinery.

SALARY INFORMATION:
Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $23.25 – $35.50 per hour.
