Job Description

  

Job Summary:

Supports Manufacturing Engineers; provides additional bandwidth for Engineers to focus on their critical task and process improvements. Supports process and recovery of RMAs cycle time, process of excursion, quality inspections, and experimental executions. Support many production lines including dewar packaging, cooler production, and integration. PDX, NG, and NLC.  Executes recovery activities such as production line support, engineering experimentation, equipment validation activities and production hardware processing per engineering disposition.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Process returned hardware for complaint evaluation, failure analysis and product dispositionReview data and provide support based on data analysisSupport introduction and development of new products and improvement of existing process/hardware/equipment, developing or executing experiments for the Process/Manufacturing engineersSupports continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S)Support Tool Design & implementationSupport on-going (daily) production and development products and processes as requiredReview and update assembly instructions and travelers meeting all regulatory and internal standardsWorks with production personnel to assist with training and techniquesWorks to ensure all production protocols are in-place and followed.Support required documentation for travelers and computer WIP trackingInitiates disposition and rework of non-conforming product or materialsReport on manufacturing metricsSupports other engineering tasks for development of new products, implementation of new production lines, re-activation of production on line down scenarios, such as hands on hardware processing (rework or repair)Flexibility for overtime is required.  There will be periods of intense workMaintain fluid communication with all related organizations (suppliers, engineering, Customer Service, etc…)

Job Qualifications:

Attention to Detail – required defining explicit process assembly instructions for the manufacture of sophisticated IR camera systems.Communication Skills-Oral, Listening & Written - required to communicate effectively with Assembly and Test personnel to both develop and optimize the necessary camera assembly process.Continuous Learning – required to stay abreast of new electronic and mechanical assembly techniques and processes defined both by internal design and external customer requirements.Decision Making & Problem Solving – required to respond to ever changing productions requirements effectively and efficiently, quality issues, and process demands.Flexibility – required to handle the often-multi-tasked manufacturing environment where multiple hats (Engineer, Inspector, Doc Control, Tool Designer, Assembler, etc) on a daily basis.Initiative – required to take the lead on all aspects of the job requirements, with minimal supervision and maximum efficiencyTechnical: Ability to use hand tools for assembling and dis-assembling delicate components (electromechanical) and understand the physics involved in the operation of the devices, for Failure Analysis and Root Cause Investigation

Knowledge and Experience in the following required:

Understanding manufacturing and processing operations, preferably in cryo cooler, infrared vision systems, vacuum assemblies, and tight tolerance hardwareElectromechanical hardware assemblyBasic computer skills -Excel and WordAble to read and work to manufacturing documentationAble to read, write and converse in EnglishExperience with handling of ESD hardware   Basic use of metrology equipment (calipers, rulers, micrometers, microscopes, multimeters, etc.)Must be a US Citizen or have Permanent Resident StatusBasic understanding of electrical and pressure/vacuum concepts

  

Salary Range:

$49,300.00-$65,700.000
