Manufacturing Supervisor (Afternoon)

Job Description:

WE’RE LOOKING FOR A MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR 

(AFTERNOON SHIFT) 

POSITION LOCATION: FORT ERIE

The Manufacturing Supervisor reports directly to the Manager, Manufacturing and is responsible for the daily activities in assigned area(s) of production.  This position is responsible for the health and safety, continual development and workplace engagement of all employees.  They are also responsible for the on time, on cost and on quality production of components and assemblies in the assigned area(s) of production.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Production

Responsible for the health, safety and working environment of all employees through the identification and remediation of safety hazards or unsafe practices, upholding the AHCA standards (policies and procedures), fostering a safety culture and through leading by example.

Drive all production activities to achieve TCOs and KPIs:

On time delivery (production schedule)

On time quality (Non-Conformances, Repairs,  quality escapes)

On cost delivery (Production Cost, production hours)

Production hourly rate 

Non-productive time bookings (indirect hours / absorption)

Operating expenses (Opex)

Employ escalation methods to remove roadblocks and ensure a smooth production flow

Foster a culture of urgency, accountability and compliance

Early identification risks and opportunities and develop mitigation plans for risks and action plans for opportunities 

Ensure regular reporting of metrics (performance) to management (SQCDP)

A regular review of labour capacity versus demand to meet customer requirements

Maintain a tour ready production environment at all times (5S Practices / FOD Awareness)


Team Management

Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within AHCA to ensure clarity, consistency and continuity when dealing with business or personnel issues 

Lead and mentor production technicians for alignment with Airbus values & behaviours

Uphold the Airbus Values and Vision and promote a speak up culture

Ensure all manufacturing employees in your area(s) of responsibility are trained for success and training methodology is adequate to address recognized needs and deficiencies

Work to develop a culture within manufacturing that promotes  communication, trust, empowerment, innovation and problem solving

Regular  goal setting & performance management for all team members 

Assist HRBPs & Manager, Manufacturing with recruitment of employees as required

Continuous Improvement & New Business

Foster, support and participate in all Continuous Improvement initiatives of AHCA.

Participate and support team reviews of new business or revisions to existing business.

Review parameters of new business or changes to existing business and their overall effect on the current manufacturing processes, equipment, and capacity.

Support the quoting process for new business.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

OSSD Required

Completion of Operations Management post secondary education preferred

Experience

3-5 years experience working in a production/manufacturing environment

3 years in a supervisory role (Lead Hand / Supervisor)

Experience in the aerospace industry preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities

Understanding of Operations Management and production philosophies; such as Lean Manufacturing, Production Pace Control, 5S, 

Exposure to or experience in various manufacturing industries; such as automotive, safety components, drug or food production

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Ability to organize, prioritize, and work under pressure

Good analytical, problem solving and  computer skills

A proven team leader, motivator and conflict resolver

Technically minded with the ability to read drawings, instructions and specifications

Technical Systems Proficiency

Proficiency with Google Suite

SAP experience an asset
