Job DescriptionThis Manufacturing Process Engineer will support the powertrain/engine assembly area at a renowned assembly plant. The role involves cross-functional responsibilities, including working with fastening, torque tools, and related data, evaluating engine test equipment, diagnosing and recommending solutions to issues, acting as a first responder to equipment in the shop, and performing functions to get equipment back to running. The engineer will also focus on tooling/fixture improvements and other continuous improvement activities. The main function of this role is to direct the development and improvements of manufacturing processes and equipment.
ResponsibilitiesPropose and evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment for assigned areas.Meet plant goals and standards in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.Coordinate the effective use of personnel, materials, and equipment in supporting SPQRC initiatives.Evaluate expenditures for processes and/or equipment.Provide technical assistance and training for assigned plant operations.Work closely with production and maintenance personnel and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects.Analyze tooling and equipment and select proper steps for solutions.Communicate with internal and external business units.Support plants in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost goals.Support and implement QS9000/ISO14001/GMS Global Manufacturing System compliance processes.Essential SkillsExpert knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes.Basic knowledge of tooling processes.Basic knowledge of automotive industry processes.Knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Experience with Lotus Notes or other email communication tools.Ability to partner with senior management to analyze and solve issues.Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's Degree in engineering or related discipline (preferred Mechanical).5+ years of manufacturing experience.1+ year in powertrain and/or torque tools.Experience with 3D modeling, preferably with 3D printing. NX by Siemens is used.Work Environment
This position is located in an OEM assembly plant supporting the Powertrain/Engine assembly area. The first shift hours are from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, with some potential 10-hour days starting at 4 AM. Occasionally, support for the second shift will be required, which runs from 3 PM to 11:30 PM, with 10-hour shifts extending to 1:30 AM.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
