This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. Evaluate the feasibility of requests for machined parts in the R&D Shop based on part complexity, material type, tolerances, and shop capacity and capabilitiesRead, interpret, and identify challenging machined features and tolerances on engineering drawings and modelsProvide customers with feedback and support in Design for ManufacturabilityNegotiate with customers to establish reasonable delivery expectationsWork with machinists to determine appropriate manufacturing processes and raw materialsProvide machinists with thoroughly vetted and error-free work request packagesOrder and track materials and tools and stage them at the appropriate work stationDevelop relationships with alternative internal and external resources and coordinate manufacturing with them where capacity or capabilities are not available in the R&D ShopManage the scheduling and prioritization of work flowing through the R&D ShopPurchase raw materials that meet all engineering and manufacturing requirementsCreate and maintain and inventory of standard, commonly used materialsOperate basic machinery such as saws and grinders and utilize basic hand tools as neededProvide excellent customer service to all current and potential customers within Blue OriginMinimum Qualifications

3+ years as a machinist, programmer, or operatorBackground in owning machined part processing from programming, set up, machining, troubleshooting, and inspectionFamiliar with scheduling and time/cost-estimation for machined partsUnderstanding of the challenges associated with machining a wide variety of hard and soft materials including Inconel, ceramics, stainless steel, aluminum, and plasticsExperience in fast-paced environmentsExcellent understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5Familiar with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and providing DFM feedback to customersExposure to multi-axis lathes, mills, and EDMsAdditional machining and fabrication experience including welding, grinding, honing, waterjet, sheet metal forming and processing, etc.Tooling and fixture designExperience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forkliftsMust be physically able to:
