**Job Description:**
This role will be responsible for creating a high-volume machining department - Equipment, People and Process from the ground up. Our ideal candidate possesses a manufacturing background in management of machining, strong leadership skills, and experience in managing complex projects internally and with development partners. The candidate will be eager to learn about new products and manufacturing processes, learn about new technologies, understand user needs and are often thinking about better ways to optimize them.
_Responsible for the complete implementation and continued improvement year over year within the department. Other responsibilities include formulating the annual department expense budget, long term capacity and strategic planning, termination, and the final decision on new hires._
**Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Support Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives of the Plant.
+ Create the manufacturing machining department – Equipment, People and Process
+ Direct timely and profitable production of product to meet scheduled demand.
+ Plan, coordinate and direct all operations of the department.
+ Develop, establish manufacturing objectives, and guide the development and implementation of schedules, procedures, and methods.
+ Train, develop and coach subordinate personnel in goals, accountabilities, and monitor accomplishments.
+ Administer and enforce Plant Administrative Policies and Procedures.
+ Ensure efficient and profitable utilization of manpower, machinery, and material.
+ Consult with other facility managers and Corporate to coordinate activities, participate in planning objectives and implementation.
+ Foster and maintain a strong 6S culture and appearance within the department.
+ Provide technical advice to correlate manufacturing efforts to improve productivity.
+ Responsible for implementing and managing Department Manufacturing Principles through Employee Involvement and Empowerment.
+ Provide an environment for problem resolution, goal attainment, Kaizen, and measurement of team performance to goal in relation to production quantity, quality, expenditures, scheduling, and utilization of manpower, facilities, and material.
+ Responsible for implementation of strategies driven from data to obtain long range goal of continual improvement.
+ Develop department budgets, maintain budget performance, and take necessary action to meet goals.
+ Keep Plant Management informed as to progress and any problems that may be constraints in the attainment of higher levels of quality, productivity, and customer requirements.
+ Accountable for the implementation and enforcement of all company policies
+ Accountable for Kanban, Materials, and Inventory.
**Education and Experience Requirements:**
+ Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
+ Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience in a machining environment preferred with 2 years or more as a manufacturing manager in a machining environment
+ Knowledge in CNC machining processes and quality control
+ Knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing(GD&T) to ensure part designs are manufacturable and inspection ready, reducing ambiguity and maximizing conformance.
+ Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
+ Must have knowledge of production management principles and techniques.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Good mechanical aptitude, including a broad knowledge of manufacturing processes related activities such as fixture design, metal working, stamping, injection molding, forging, machining, polishing and grinding.
+ Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
**Working Conditions Manufacturing Plant:**
+ Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE). This may include, but not limited to: safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
+ Usually work indoors which may not be temperature-controlled. Occasionally work in outdoor spaces.
+ Are sometimes exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
+ Are occasionally exposed to contaminants/hazardous equipment.
**Travel Requirements:**
+ Availability to travel domestically and internationally for machine and/or concept evaluations)
