The EHS & Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Additionally, this role will design and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in EHS regulations and a passion for employee development.
Role & ResponsibilityLead the design and development of training programs for manufacturing employees, incorporating adult learning principles, and utilizing a variety of instructional methods and technologies
Conduct comprehensive training needs assessments to identify skill gaps, performance improvement opportunities, and training priorities
Collaborate with subject matter experts, managers, and supervisors to define learning objectives, content, and evaluation criteria for each training program
Develop engaging and interactive training materials, including facilitator guides, participant workbooks, e-learning modules, videos, and job aids
Deliver training sessions to manufacturing employees, ensuring the effective transfer of knowledge and skills, and providing coaching and feedback as necessary
Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, surveys, and feedback mechanisms, and make recommendations for continuous improvement
Mentor and support junior trainers, providing guidance on instructional design, delivery techniques, and training best practices
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes relevant to manufacturing training, and incorporate new approaches and methodologies as appropriate
Collaborate with the Training Manager to develop and coordinate training logistics and manage training records and documentation
Conduct thorough risk assessments, including ergonomic evaluations, exposure assessments, and incident investigations to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies
Provide guidance and advice to management and employees on EHS matters, including hazard communication, industrial hygiene, waste management, and emergency response
Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to drive EHS initiatives, develop action plans, and monitor progress towards achieving EHS goals
Develop and implement metrics and systems to monitor EHS performance, track trends, and identify areas for improvement
Foster a positive learning environment that promotes employee engagement, motivation, and professional growth
Job RequirementBachelor's degree in related field or equivalent related experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience delivering training programs and or EHS, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
In-depth knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and training methodologies
Strong proficiency in e-learning authoring tools, learning management systems (LMS), multimedia software, and virtual training platforms
Excellent facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage learners and deliver content effectively
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify training needs and develop targeted solutions
Experience with evaluating training effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative methods, including assessment design and analysis
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant agencies
Strong understanding of EHS principles, risk assessment methodologies, and hazard control strategies
Proficient in using EHS management systems, databases, and software
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the willingness to guide and mentor junior trainers
