In the role of Manufacturing Engineering Team Leader, you will hold technical responsibility and daily line management for a Manufacturing Engineering team of approximately 8-12 employees including delivering defined projects, manufacturing cell support, and related work packages.

This role provides leadership, accountability, and output against program milestones and manufacturing cell deliverables including ownership and accountability for high value business projects to deliver productivity, cost out, and capacity where required. The role also defines and executes plans for development of required skill sets within the Manufacturing Engineering team.

Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Dayton—known widely as the birthplace of aviation—where the Wright Brothers built the world’s first aircraft in their bicycle shop in the heart of downtown Dayton. This business boasts a rich history, in operation for over 100 years. At over 140,000 square feet, the Vandalia facility rests on 25 acres right off Interstate 75.


At GE Aerospace in Vandalia, we specialize in manufacturing and servicing world-class power generation and electrical control and distribution equipment for a variety of military and commercial customers. Vandalia is also home to a product development lab where operators and engineers work together to invent the future of flight.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Manage the well-being, load, capacity, and execution of a team of Manufacturing Engineers of approximately 8-12 employees. Exercise the recognized supervisory responsibilities relating to People, Performance, and Growth (PPG), career and professional development, recruitment, and training. Actively drive for team development and growth.Promote a culture of Continuous Improvement and data-based, analytical decision making.Drive accountability for product configuration management with manufacturing planning and processes. Act as a mentor for Manufacturing Engineers. Ensure full support on manufacturing cells in line with delivery commitments and lead the team to deliver validated design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, and equipment to ensure integrity of design is met. Develop use of process maturity and risk mitigation tools such Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) within area of responsibility. Use the data generated to drive improvement projects. Be cognizant of relevant new product development toll gate reviews. Proactively assess product and processes against requirements and drive action to ensure readiness. Collaborate with Quality Engineering team to ensure product and processes are conforming and compliant.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience in a Manufacturing and/or Process Engineering role)Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership, manufacturing and/or process engineering role

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience in a Manufacturing and/or Process Engineering role2+ years of experience leading people in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of electrical power generation and power conversion equipment manufacturing processesKnowledge of aerospace production methods and processes.Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude.Strong documentation skills.Strong problem-solving abilities.Ability to work in a matrixed organization and work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
