Our Wabtec Young Touchstone team combines knowledge of our customers’ product platforms/processes with industry expertise to deliver unparalleled product solutions. Here you’ll interact daily with all support team functions to solve problems and will partner with other key stakeholders to support our customers and their operations.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Heat Transfer & Energy Solutions group, you will be responsible for providing Manufacturing Engineering support to our Young Touchstone business unit.  This position leads and oversees the manufacturing engineering team across 2 facilities, driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement across all production processes. The role is crucial in bridging product design with manufacturing operations, ensuring seamless production scalability, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. This position will report directly to the General Manager of the business unit.

Excellent leadership and the ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams both internal & externallyMaster’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) preferred; bachelor’s degree required10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership roleProven track record in implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologiesStrong understanding of advanced manufacturing technologies and Industry 4.0 conceptsExcellent project management skills with experience in managing complex, multi-disciplinary projectsExceptional problem-solving and analytical skillsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalExperience with ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES)

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement long-term manufacturing engineering strategies aligned with company goalsLead cross-functional initiatives to improve manufacturing capabilities and capacityCollaborate with senior leadership to define and achieve operational excellence targets

Team Management:

Manage, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and techniciansFoster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharingConduct regular performance reviews and set clear objectives for team members

Process Optimization:

Spearhead the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologiesOversee the development and improvement of manufacturing processes, focusing on efficiency, quality, and cost-effectivenessLead root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective actions for complex manufacturing issues

New Product Introduction:

Guide the transition of new products from R&D to full-scale productionCollaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability and design for assemblyOversee the development of manufacturing processes for new product lines

Technology Integration:

Evaluate and implement advanced manufacturing technologies, including automation and Industry 4.0 conceptsDrive the adoption of digital tools for process monitoring, data analysis, and predictive maintenance

Project Management:

Manage large-scale manufacturing projects, including facility expansions or production line installationsOversee capital equipment procurement and installationEnsure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specification

Quality and Compliance:

Ensure adherence to quality management systems and regulatory requirementsCollaborate with Quality Assurance to implement and maintain robust quality control processesStay current with industry standards and best practices

Financial Management:

Develop and manage departmental budgetsAnalyze manufacturing costs and implement cost-reduction initiatives

Justify and secure funding for major capital investments

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between

$89,100.00-$126,900.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
