In this position...
Create and deliver innovative manufacturing technologies that add true business value in the areas of factory automation and digital customer experiences, leveraging the platforms of connected vehicles, connected machines, and connected people. As an Automation Engineer for Final Assembly, you will be responsible for identifying applications where automation tooling solutions are feasible within final assembly. You will be responsible for providing content to study leads for funding approvals and working with layout engineers to integrate tooling into cycle line layouts. You will work with a diverse and highly capable team that engages with multiple key organizations at Ford to deliver new automation enablers. In Final Assembly Engineering, you will have the opportunity to fully explore your creativity and leverage extensive developmental capability to do something that’s never been done before.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Design and develop manufacturing process flows and optimization strategies to achieve efficiency improvements.
+ Design, implement, and optimize automation cells to enhance manufacturing operations.
+ Identify areas within final assembly where robotic automation can be applied
+ Work with product development to drive product enablers to allow for automated assembly.
+ Support tooling design and build with supplier interface team
+ Studying new programs and costing new automated cell standardized equipment
+ Develop tooling SOW and issue POs for automated cell equipment
+ Provide launch support and automation equipment, as needed
+ Create new standards for automation
+ Develop scope of work template for automation and deliver program specific SOWs for automated tooling solutions
+ Program and troubleshoot collaborative robots and industrial robots, incorporating robot simulation, tool design, and robot path planning.
+ Facilitate design review sessions and lead PFMEA activities and static/dynamic assessments to identify and mitigate risks in the manufacturing process.
+ Prepare and deliver technical presentations and demonstration for leadership reviews and program team reviews
+ Collaborate with teams at MTD, MP&L, VOME and other stakeholders to identify, define, and validate requirements and KPIs for automated processes.

You'll have...
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
+ 3-5 yrs of professional experience in manufacturing engineering and automation, including CAD design, robot programming, and tooling design.
+ Proficiency in CAD software such as Inventor, CATIA, or similar.
+ Experience with robot simulation and assembly automation.
+ Strong problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work well with cross functional teams to develop consensus.
+ Travel 25% within North America

+ Previous project management experience.
+ Prototype design and development experience.
+ Ability to program PLCs (Siemens and Allen-Brandley).
+ Experience with Fanuc robotics.
+ Experience working with Tier 1 OEM suppliers and partners.
+ Manufacturing operations experience in general/final assembly

This position is a salary grade 6.
