Manufacturing Engineer Superintendent

The Manufacturing Engineer Supeintendent is responsible for overseeing the introduction, optimization, and lifecycle management of manufacturing processes and automation systems, particularly in the production of electrical meters (commercial and residential), network/router equipment, and related sub-assemblies. This role combines deep technical knowledge with strategic project leadership to ensure process efficiency, high equipment availability, operator reduction, and consistent product quality. The position drives innovation through mechanical, electrical, and software integration, and manages cross-functional teams in the deplayment of advanced manufacturing technologies. 

As a step above the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, the Superintendent role encompasses strategic planning, departamental leadership, and accountability for enterprise-level initiatives and budget management. This role influence company-wide manufacturing strategies and guides technology roadmaps to support future scalability and competitiveness.

Responsibilities/Processes:

Define and lead the automation roadmap aligned with business objectives, identifying opportunities for manual-to-automated process transitions Develop business cases and ROI justifications for automation investments Coordinate cross-functional reviews for technology selection, budgeting, and project timelines Drive vendor scouting, techncial evaluations, and trials of automation solutions Ensure smooth integration of automation systems into existing production lines through structured pilot programs Lead commissioning, training, and documentation for automation equipment rollouts Lead implementation of process automation including x-y robots, 6-axis robotic arms (e.g., KUKA), and calibration systems Manage and execute projects for new product equipment introduction and operator headcount reduction Integrate mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC systems for manufacturing Oversee installation, startup, and validation of new production equipment Ensure robust process control through statistical and data-driven approaches Coordinate cross-departmental collaboration for software and equipment integration Supervise the design and deplayment of automated and semi-automated workstations Establish preventive and predictive maintenance strategies  Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices Manage engineering team development and capacity planning Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen Collaborate with suppliers and integrators on technical specifications  Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies relevant to smart manufacturing Manage technical documentation and standard operating procedures Oversee plant-wide automation and manufacturing technology strategy Align departmental performance with corporate manufacturing goals and cost targets To work according of the I.M.S. (Integrated Management System) including ISO 9K, 14K, 18K, 27K, and 22301

Required Skills:

Strong mechanical and electrical engineering background Expertise in project management tools (MS Project) Robotics programming and integration CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Keyance) Pneumatic and mechanical system design Experince with software-hardware integration Data analysis and statistical process control Leadership and cross-functional communication Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Fluent technical English, both written and spoken Team development and organizational planning Vendor relationship and technology evaluation

Required Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Mechatronic, Mechanical, Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Green Belt Certification (Desirable) At least 10 to 15 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in sectors such as automotive, electronics, or any manufacturing processes Demonstrated success in equipment integration, automation, and process improvements Experience in managing cross-functional engineering projects Strong hands-on experience with Industrial automation technologies and manufacturing systems Proven leadership in managing multi-disciplinary technical teams and departmental performance
