The Manufacturing Engineer, New Product Introduction’s (NPI) primary focus will be on the successful introduction of new products. This position owns new product introduction for powertrain related activities at our Monterrey, Mexico manufacturing facility. This role requires a high degree of cross functional collaboration with operations, central engineering, packaging engineering, and quality. The position plans and coordinates the activities necessary to produce specified products within Polaris safety, quality and cost standards.
**Responsibilities**
+ Partner with operations and engineering leadership in the development of new product manufacturing powertrain recommendations, preliminary manufacturing plans, and pre-production schedules
**Lead key components of initial design reviews:**
+ Reviews preliminary designs, making recommendations to reduce costs and improve manufacturing and quality on new or existing parts.
+ Defines tooling and fixturing needs necessary to deliver programs with the highest-level of safety, quality, productivity.
+ Analyzes and evaluates manufacturing process flow, methods, and standards.
**Lead key components of PDP Process:**
+ Develop and validate PFMEA’s
+ Review and assess powertrain manufacturing feasibility and readiness
+ Lead Pre-production builds
+ Present Manufacturing plan in CSR, PDR, and all Gate reviews
+ Create and maintain accurate budgets for program capital and tooling requirements
**Procure New Manufacturing Tooling/Equipment**
+ Write equipment specifications to meet manufacturing and design requirements
+ Quote and Procure Equipment from external vendors
+ Validate equipment and tooling meets all Manufacturing Standards
+ Trouble shoot manufacturing equipment during implementation and initial start of production
**Lead Production Line Readiness:**
+ Improve safety and ergonomics through process and tooling changes
+ Define assembly processes and coordinate the creation of standard work
+ Install and validate new equipment and tooling
+ Complete Pre-Build Readiness
+ Complete Post-Build Scorecards
+ Complete tooling and equipment readiness assessments
+ Lead line balancing activities to meet required line rates
+ Create and Troubleshoot Atlas Copco DC tool programs
**Key Supporting Roles:**
+ Support creation, implementation, documentation and execution of centralized powertrain technology standards (process, equipment, systems)
+ Collaborate with plant controls engineers to implement Line controls (Vision, Assembly Verifiers, Test Equipment, etc.)
+ Collaborate with core technology experts on advanced technology process development
+ Collaborate with packaging engineers to determine packaging needs
+ Collaborate with plant training personnel to develop training plans
+ Collaborate with plant quality control to define quality criteria, product validation and QC lab readiness
+ Provide production support through the start-up phase
**Knowledge**
+ Auto Computer-aided Design (AutoCAD) (Intermediate)
+ Industrial and Manufacturing Processes (Developing)
+ Creo (Developing)
+ SolidWorks (Developing)
+ DC Tool Programming (Intermediate)
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience in technical specifications, ordering, run-off, installation and qualification of equipment/tooling
+ Strong experience in Project Management (Advanced) – plan, develop and execute
+ Working experience with powertrain systems (Developing) and processes (Developing)
**Experience & Skills**
+ 3-5 years of experience in a closely related manufacturing engineer role; Specifically within automotive or a closely related industry.
**Education**
+ Engineering (Bachelor's degree) or Industrial Engineering (Bachelor's degree) or Manufacturing Engineering (Bachelor's degree) or Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor's degree)
**Working Conditions**
+ Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%-20% of time (including international travel)
