Manufacturing Engineer Lead - Battery Systems

This position will provide leadership and direction for the applicable Manufacturing Engineering group. The position will assign and supervise resources to support projects and programs, develop processes, tooling, manufacturing instructions, and equipment to support customer requirements and production schedules. Collaboration with the Manufacturing Operation groups often to understand key priorities and deadlines.

Standard Duties :
+ Lead and continuously develop a staff of Manufacturing Engineers and Controls Engineers.
+ Monitor productivity of direct reports and ensure efficiency and consistency of work. Conduct performance and development discussions as needed. Mentor staff to ensure future growth.
+ Performs full range of technical work assessments including assigning projects as required to appropriate team members to meet CPU budgets.
+ Interface with Manufacturing Operations and leadership to set direction of tasks/projects to complete for direct reports.
+ Lead and facilitate problem solving and cross functional teams to resolve product/process issues for manufacturing processes and products.
+ Provide technical support to manufacturing and improve productivity and reduce costs.
+ Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout and establishing and implementing manufacturing plans (Material Flow, People Flow, and Information Flow).
+ Assist in the planning, development and execution of manufacturing operations and travel as required to support successful operations.
+ Ensure proper use of all safety regulations and equipment used in manufacturing.
+ Actively drive L-3 Six Sigma/continuous process improvement activities including Lean, 5S, process/equipment innovation and other initiatives.
+ Directly interface with engineering and business development to prepare labor and material estimates for proposals.
+ Directly interface with production planning/production control to ensure commitments, schedules, and obligations are met.
+ Establish metrics for manufacturing engineering deliverables based on overall CPU and workshop targets.
+ Assist procurement in supplier selection and validation of supplier process capabilities and process controls.
+ Ensure the deliverables & timing are clearly defined and communicated to the organization.
+ Work with BW Engineering groups to ensure products conform to external customer requirements.
+ Develops/supports/leads implementation of critical initiatives

Additional Information:
+ Travel is occasionally required, up to 5% of the time.

+ Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. on occasion.

Education & Experience
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent required
+ Master’s Degree in Engineering or Management preferred
+ 5+ years related experience – manufacturing engineering area preferred
+ Supervision or Technical Project Leadership experience required
+ Development and launch experience of integrated electronic and mechanical devices required
+ Experience in AIAG core tools; MSA, SPC, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP required
+ Problem solving skills using systematic approaches (8D, Six-Sigma, Shainin, etc.) required
