The Manufacturing Engineer implements, integrates or improves on manufacturing systems to improve quality and reduce costs. This position will be liaison between design engineering and manufacturing departments. The estimated annual salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000 annually. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience. The Opportunity ... Translate designs from product engineering into manufacturing processes. Design fixtures, document SOP’s, create manufacturing BOM’s, and develop routing operations. +Process revisions/ECN’s within system. Provide recommendations for changes to designs for part manufacturability (ECR’s). Participate in revision, design, and post-mortem reviews. (30%) Solicit, facilitate and implement operational improvements (JDI’s) in consideration of waste elimination and cost-benefit analysis. (20%) Provide diagnostic/troubleshooting support for operations. Analyze root cause on manufacturing defects and implement preventative actions (20%) Engage in kaizen/A3 events. Drive lean initiatives with particular focus on facility layouts for 5S organization and flow improvements (10%) Perform incoming inspection of completed manufacturing and outsourced vendor components in absence of QC resource. (10%) Maintain and analyze router times in the MRP system including calculating and optimizing lot sizes, set-up and run times. (5%) Support purchasing in the selection process for outside vendors of fabricated components. (5%) Why work at JBT ... BS Degree in Engineering/Technology OR 3-5 Years on the job experience in a related field. · Proficiency in Solidworks or similar CAD modeling softwares. Familiar with GD&T principles. · Working knowledge of hand inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gages, etc · Excellent communication skills with proficiency in creating synergy across teams to drive change · Proficient in Microsoft Tools, with particular emphasis in Excel and Teams. · Ability to quickly interpret both analytical and subjective data to quickly problem solve · Comfortable in making decisions, including proposing and defending · Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously. Possess work accuracy and good organizational skills Preferred Knowledge/Skills: · Familiarity with part/assembly cost estimating and job routing/operations development · Work experience in manufacturing environment including metal fabrication and assembly · Previous application of basic lean tools including 5S, 8 Forms of Waste, and root cause analysis Supervisory Responsibility: None Travel: Up to 10% · Meetings/trainings/trade shows as required · Supplier visits as required Work Environment and Physical Demands: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
