Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Mechanical Engineer, where you will collaborate with a team of Operations engineers to support the build and delivery of Space Flight products in the Space Electronic Systems sector.
ResponsibilitiesProvide engineering process support for the manufacturing of electromechanical assemblies for military and space applications, focusing on defect reduction and root cause analysis.Conduct data analysis for capacity, throughput, and other relevant performance indicators.Recommend and implement process improvements, lean manufacturing techniques, and process flows to enhance production and development programs.Work with staff to ensure bench setups/layouts meet productivity demands, safety/ergonomics, and incorporate employee suggestions.Create detailed work instructions from engineering drawings for technicians to assemble, test, and inspect products accurately and repeatably.Generate, investigate, and document non-conformances, recommend disposition, and supply rework instructions if necessary.Review new designs for manufacturability and ensure compliance with standards and procedures for a consistent manufacturing process.Support Material Review Board (MRB)/Failure Review Board (FRB) for the disposition of discrepant material/test failures and determine root cause/corrective action.Ensure timely disposition of discrepant materials and implement necessary corrections.Essential SkillsProficiency in SolidWorks and manufacturing process management.Experience with configuration management and production environments.Expertise in manufacturing engineering and process improvement.Knowledge of Six Sigma, mechanical engineering, and continuous improvement practices.Ability to employ lean manufacturing techniques and root cause analysis.Experience with space flight hardware.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.Minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing engineering.Experience in regulated/controlled manufacturing environments.Knowledge of root cause and corrective action methodologies.Experience with configuration management processes.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.Strong prioritization skills to meet commitments.Effective communication skills across varying levels of technical expertise.Proficiency in technical writing and presentation.Work Environment
Experience a vibrant and open work environment featuring open cubicles and a loud floor, fostering open communication and collaboration. The team consists of three manufacturing engineers, a production manager, an operations project manager, and two quality engineers, all working closely together.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.70 - $62.50/hr.
