Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves reviewing production outputs, creating action plans, and maximizing efficiency on the shop floor. You will be responsible for owning the output and ensuring that production processes are optimized and issues are resolved promptly.
ResponsibilitiesUnderstand the product and its intended operation, assisting production, maintenance, and quality in debugging production processes.Prepare and revise Process Flow Diagrams, Operation Sheets, and Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs).Monitor and analyze production processes to improve performance, efficiency, and reject rates.Support resolution of technical issues and report on current technical issues and status during weekly meetings or management reviews.Lead Failure Analysis efforts related to production issues, performance issues, and critical characteristics.Generate Requests for Process Change forms and manage them through the approval process.Generate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Requests for Variance (RFVs) as needed.Serve as the main internal technical point of contact for assigned programs.Support Configuration Control of the Technical Data Packages associated with the products produced.Define process control requirements, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), for production processes.Participate in risk assessment for production operations.Engage in Build Readiness Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Production Readiness Reviews.Participate in line setup, including layout, flow, equipment, and storage.Request and issue Shop Work Order numbers.Build and analyze test samples to understand design margin and product performance variation.Create and lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for assigned programs.Build pre-FAAT, pilot, and engineering test samples.Support customer technical requests and questions, providing resultant effects to production processes and performance.Assist Quality and Purchasing in resolving supplier issues.Essential Skills3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, defense industry experience preferred.Experience in continuous improvement, process engineering, and manufacturing process optimization.Proficient in value stream mapping, SPC, process audits, and new product launches.Ambitious, hands-on, and capable of quick thinking in a fast-paced environment.Familiarity with automated manufacturing processes and assembly cells.Proven track record of owning processes and lines from start to finish.Experience in time studies and cycle time calculations.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh volume and automated manufacturing process experience.Experience with low mix/high volume assembly processes.Knowledge in tooling design, Minitab, Lean Manufacturing, assembly, automation, PFMEA, ammunition, new product launch, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Solidworks.Four-year degree is not necessary; relevant experience is key.Work Environment
The work schedule is from 7am to 5pm with an hour lunch, following a 9/80 work schedule. This means four nine-hour days and one eight-hour Friday every other week, with flexible hours within an hour each way if consistent. Engineers manage up to four programs across various production lines, coordinating mostly with Tooling, Operations, Quality, and shop floor teams. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
