Job Description
The manufacturing engineer applies a tactical knowledge of quality engineering principles to production processes to ensure quality standards are implemented and adhered to throughout the entirety of the manufacturing process. This role supports the design and implementation of changes aimed at improving productivity and profitability of existing production procedures, while providing ongoing support through the manufacturing life cycle. As a technical resource, the engineer supports process technology in production methodology and explores new methods. The role involves routine support for the execution of quality acceptance standards and improvements, enhancing the robustness of quality design inherent to process design, thereby advancing repeatability and reliability of quality product production. Collaboration with operations leaders is crucial to fully execute designed production processes that adhere to quality standards, while providing seamless support to production leadership during working hours.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the design, installation, and evaluation of quality assurance systems, procedures, and statistical techniques.Take a support role in the design or specification of inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment to analyze production and service processes and standards.Evaluate manufacturing processes to ensure optimal labor and material costs, increasing productivity and profitability.Provide timely product and process support for any manufacturing area to diagnose problems and implement solutions to minimize interruptions to production.Engage as a team member in the implementation of significant cross-functional projects to improve product, process, customer, supplier, and quality-related issues.Identify root causes and develop corrective actions, including potential process or quality assurance changes to address customer service or supplier quality issues.Engage with Technical Engineers to research and introduce new processes, equipment, and technologies into the company.Essential SkillsAbility to effectively apply quality engineering technical principles, concepts, practices, standards, and procedures.Strong analysis skills including process, capacity, cost/benefit, waste stream, and quality tools.Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques such as flow, equipment reliability, and setup reduction.Ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems with minimal support.Understanding of productivity improvement techniques and ability to utilize them.Project management skills with cross-functional teams and basic facilitation skills.Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Basic understanding in design, specification, purchase, and installation of new equipment.Understanding of simulation, process modeling, and value stream mapping.Additional Skills & QualificationsPursuing ASQ certification as Quality Engineer Body of Knowledge.Awareness of material handling solutions to support efficient flow within production areas.Understanding of occupational Biomechanics/Human Factors Engineering.Understanding of product testing requirements, product development cycle, and special processes.Work Environment
This position operates within a manufacturing and general office environment, providing daily support in production settings.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.67/hr.
