Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will play a pivotal role in overseeing production during off-shift hours and collaborating with manufacturing and production leaders to optimize performance on the production floor. This position involves a blend of manufacturing engineering duties and facilitating the planning, scheduling, setup, and execution of manufacturing activities. The engineer will lead the distribution of materials for production and ensure that labor and material requirements align with daily schedules. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership qualities, experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, and be available to support manufacturing teams on off shifts. Approximately 70%-80% of the role will be spent on the production floor, making hands-on involvement crucial.

ResponsibilitiesMaintain manufacturing production processes by observing process volumes and recommending improvements.Monitor progress and expedite material flow and work results; resolve issues as they arise.Enhance manufacturing process workflow by eliminating stoppages, analyzing delays, and testing new methods.Record manufacturing production data by completing daily shift reports and calculating yields and recoveries.Communicate production status, requirements, and issues to the next shift to maintain process flow.Foster a positive working relationship with union members by adhering to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy manufacturing environment by following organizational standards and policies, as well as legal regulations.Contribute to manufacturing process success by overseeing outcomes, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counseling associates.Present job expectations, plan, monitor, and appraise job contributions while adhering to policies and procedures.Essential SkillsBachelor degree in engineering disciplineEngineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, preferably 2+ years.General understanding of assembly or machining processes.Leadership or supervision experience.High level of interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.Preference for hands-on work on the manufacturing floor.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working in a union facility is nice-to-have.Work Environment

This position involves working during 2nd or 3rd shift. 2nd shift runs from 2pm-10pm and 3rd shift runs from 10pm-6am. Flexibility will be needed to start 30 minutes early or stay 30 minutes after for shift handoff. The work week typically consists of 45 hours a week. Roughly 70-80% of the time will be spent on the manufacturing floor. The remaining time will be spent in the office.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $40.87/hr.
