Overview
Astrion is searching for candidates for a full-time Manufacturing Engineer in the Merritt Island, FL area. The position supports the USSF Space Systems Command Launch Assured Access to Space Launch Acquisition Directorate (SSC/AAL). The candidate will support manufacturing engineering responsibilities and activities of the non-recurring design validation of New Entrant Launch Service Providers.
+ Provide Launch Vehicle Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering expertise
+ Perform and support manufacturing engineering functions such as process gap assessments, design reviews, test reviews, risk management, hardware acceptance, verification, operations, anomaly resolution, and post-flight analyses.
+ Perform manufacturing/industrial engineering functions such as assessment of LV design, manufacturing methods, procedures, tooling, facilities, infrastructure, personnel qualifications, non-conformance assessment, material review boards, corrective action reports, calibration, environmental controls, quality assurance, non-destructive examinations, safety methods, regulations, supplier management, and transportation.
+ Prepare and conduct manufacturing process audits including developing the audit plan and checklist, and writing the final report.
+ Plan, coordinate, brief, support Design Certification Reviews, program reviews, and other meetings.
+ Perform technical and engineering data management, such as data mining and reporting.
+ Collaborate with USSF System Program Offices, Aerospace Corporation, Launch Vehicle Contractors (LVCs), Subcontractors, and Launch Site Personnel.
+ Prepare weekly and other written evaluations and reports of a technical nature.
+ Performing Knowledge Capture, Process Definition, preparing and providing training.
+ Preparing and giving written and verbal presentations and reports to senior engineers and management.
+ Must have an active or current and transferable DoD secret clearance (or higher). Must be able to maintain the required clearance.
+ Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
+ Minimum of 8 years of directly related experience, which must include:
+ Design, test, manufacture, and operation of systems, processes, personnel, and organizations
+ Experience in supporting reviews of design, manufacturing, test, procedures, anomaly resolution
+ Risk assessments and actionable recommendations and mitigations
+ Experience in planning and conducting manufacturing process audits
+ Performing Knowledge Capture, Process Definition, preparing and providing training
+ Preparing and giving written and verbal presentations and reports to senior engineers and management
+ Must be able to interact effectively with USSF, NASA, NRO, Launch Vehicle, subcontractors, etc.
+ Knowledge of LV structures and mechanical systems preferred
+ Competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Information Technology systems and databases including Jira and Confluence.
