Job Summary

Caterpillar has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer. In this role, you will function as a specialist with respect to a specific technical phase of the planning function and which generally falls within the major areas of planning, tooling, maintenance, releasing, machine shop, assembly, etc. wherever a specific technical assignment may be needed. This position is going to be responsible for the manufacturing machining process. Assist and assume technical services management by performing technical analysis of manufacturing processes, systems, N/C programming, CNC machines, etc. to permit effective decisions, which will lead to effective implemented solutions.


What will you do:

This is a staff assignment that, independently or as part of a team, is involved in the manufacturing and improvement of processes and systems used in the machining of product.

This is a fully functioning journey level position, for an incumbent with a varied amount of manufacturing experience, who may obtain assistance from a more experienced senior level person.

Troubleshoots day-to-day process problems, initiates solutions, and follows-up to evaluate effectiveness of changes to ensure practical cleaning, salvage, machining, fabrication and moving of production material within the components group. Designs or directs the acquisition, design, fabrication and repair of all necessary tooling and machines. Determines contacts, and negotiates with external suppliers for machines, tooling, parts, and contracted labor. Analyzes engineering change notices, determines any part or process change, initiates, and implements all changes. Assumes day-to-day coaching duties in absence of team leader. Analyzes and recommends current and future systems, procedures, training, and equipment needs based upon understanding and communication with users. Determines acceptability of new equipment based on usage requirements and recommends modification or revision as necessary.Provides analysis and recommendations needed to allow manufacturing to produce the engineering product designs.Provides effective communication and services in solving production problems or pursuing operations improvements. Simulates present and future machine lines and cells to predict line flow problems and makes recommendations for implementation. Conducts investigation to assist in resolving technical problems.Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties.

Degree Requirements

Mechanic, Mechatronic Engineer or related degree.Advanced English, including technical English.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking

Uses a critical thinking method to support decision-making by organizing data, documenting key elements, prioritizing concerns, and evaluating risks and alternatives.

Judgment and Decision Making

Identifies sound actions among alternatives by applying discernment, following guidance, and seeking support for complex decisions.

Lean Manufacturing

Explains key lean principles, tools for identifying waste, and examples of successful and unsuccessful implementations, highlighting associated benefits and risks.

Manufacturing Equipment

Cast Iron machining, tooling and work holding experience.

Manufacturing Processes

This position requires working knowledge of manufacturing concepts, etc.

Manufacturing Safety

Maintains safety standards by inspecting equipment and environments, logging maintenance, using protective gear, responding to incidents, and addressing unsafe conditions.

Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies

Working knowledge in similar roles.

Problem Management Process

Ability to effectively communicate to team members and other process associates.

Top Candidates may have:

Mazak, Heller, and Makino operation experience.Strong analytics skills and new process development skills, from concept creation through production.GD&T and tolerances stack up knowledge with drawing interpretation experience.Ability to work simultaneously in multiple projects and decision-making skills.Quality focused, and urgency committed to business requirements.

Additional Information:

The location for this position is Cienega de Flores.This position may require domestic travelling up to 10%.Domestic relocations is not available.Work schedule: Monday – Friday (6:24am - 16:00pm) and Saturday (7:00am - 2:30pm)
