We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Development Engineer to support the development and transition to production of innovative optical fiber assemblies. This role focuses on enabling the scale-up of next-generation disposable optical fiber assembly products. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing robust, scalable processes and collaborating cross-functionally with R&D, Operations, and Quality teams to bring novel optical fiber assembly devices from concept to production.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-growth and innovation-rich environment enabling several industries including communication and life sciences applications.

Key Responsibilities

Prototype Process Development Develop, document, and refine hands-on processes for fabricating optical fiber assemblies used in medical applications. Perform stripping of fiber coatings, cleaving, fusion splicing, and precise end-shaping (e.g., ball lens, conical, tapered geometries). Use specialized tools and jigs to consistently deliver high-quality optical terminations. Characterization & Testing Perform optical characterization (e.g., insertion loss, beam profile, alignment accuracy) using tools such as microscopes, interferometers, and power meters. Contribute to inspection criteria, test procedures, and process validation protocols. Manufacturing Transfer Own the transfer of new prototype processes into scalable, repeatable production-ready processes. Work closely with manufacturing teams to support ramp-up and troubleshoot process issues. Work with domestic and international suppliers and coordinate strategic vendor initiatives with Supply Chain team Generate process documentation (SOPs, travelers, control plans) and train production personnel. Cross-Functional Collaboration Interface daily with R&D, Product Engineering, Quality, and Production to drive fast iteration and alignment on technical needs.
