If you share our passion for creating an airline people love, we want to hear from you. **Role Summary** The Managing Director (MD), Operational Audit is responsible for setting the strategic vision and leading the operational enterprise-level audit and assurance programs (Internal Evaluation Program (IEP) and Quality Assurance (QA)) across Alaska Air Group (AAG). This role reports to the VP, Audit Programs, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Chair of the Safety Committee of the AAG Board of Directors (BOD) and the AAG VP, Safety. As a people leader, the Managing Director, Operational Audit demonstrates deep business acumen and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective, ongoing professional relationships with leaders across Air Group to support their efforts to identify, analyze, and solve cross-divisional challenges. The Managing Director, Operational Audit, leverages these relationships to function as a key organizational influencer and change agent, establishing strategic goals and direction for a team of leaders. This team provides strategic counsel to AAG executives and the BOD through expert-level knowledge of systems of internal controls. **Key Duties** + Develop and promote the vision, strategic priorities, and long-term direction of the AAG operational audit team. + Lead a team that provides independent, objective assurance and appraisal services by examining, evaluating, and reporting on AAG’s most complex and important operational processes with the mission to continuously improve AAG’s systems of safety and operational controls. + Oversee the design, development, and continuous improvement of audit policies, methods, and deliverables to ensure a strong, value-added function that acts as an early warning system about key safety and operational risks and positively influences the organization’s efforts to address these concerns. + Influence across the companies and provides strategic recommendations to enterprise leaders. + Develop and maintain strong working relationships and regular communications with key stakeholders (including BOD safety committee and external assessment agencies, such as regulators) to ensure the effectiveness of assurance service delivery and appropriate risk mitigation of identified challenges. + Achieve annual goals and budget targets by effectively managing resources and stakeholder requirements. + Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning across teams and functions. + Attract, develop, and retain a high-performing team of audit professionals. + Positively influences company culture by demonstrating the highest commitment to Company values through actions, continuous learning, and reinforcement of behaviors. + Internal Evaluation Program (IEP): * In partnership with the VP, Safety, design, develop, and oversee the execution of a risk-based audit plan for IEP that meets the assurance objectives of FAA Advisory Circular 120-59B. + Quality Assurance (QA): * Ensure audits are executed with safety, quality, and compliance at the forefront with a focus on continuous improvement to strengthen the AAG’s processes and controls. **Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills** **Required** + 10 years of progressive leadership experience in risk-based assurance, project management, or controls consulting, such as Internal or External Audit, Compliance, IEP or Quality Assurance. + 5 years of people leadership, including significant experience developing teams and managerial oversight of diverse teams of professionals. + Bachelor’s degree with a focus in aviation disciplines or business administration, or willingness to attain a bachelor’s degree within six years of start date. + Demonstrated ability to swiftly analyze complex business processes and work closely with audit team members and management to identify control gaps and devise appropriate strategies to mitigate risk. + Highly proficient in written, oral, and interpersonal communications and readily able to produce concise, relevant, strategic presentations at the executive and BOD level. + Minimum age of 18. + Must be authorized to work in the U.S. **Preferred** + Aviation Safety Management System experience and program knowledge. + A Master of Arts/Science degree or a Master of Business Administration degree. + Working knowledge of aviation business, including regulatory compliance requirements for Part 121 carriers. **Airport SIDA Badge Requirements** Important notification for employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar: Employees will be required to obtain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority and maintain good standing in order to keep their SIDA badge. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
