Job Overview
The Corporate Sales Unit Head manages multiple teams through other managers. In-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses. Full management responsibility for multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval. May be doing involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities.
Responsibilities:
As a Corporate Sales Unit head the incumbent will manage the sales initiatives of a specified client groupResponsible for originating, structuring and executing multi-asset derivative solutions for corporate clientsThese solutions could span structured hedging solutions related to a respective market, investment products, commodity derivatives, credit structuresPartner very closely with respective internal coverage groups, product groups regionally and globallyProactive and consistent coverage of respective institutionsGrow a consistent profitable business platform with respective clientsBuild senior level relationships with CFOs, Finance Directors, Risk Managers, Treasurers and Assistant Treasurers. Enhance Citi’s profile within the identified client baseGrow the sales flow business from the current levelAbility to help overall Sales team execute on formulated plan to grow revenues and increase share of wallet within an effectively developed business planTake lead role in fostering an environment of collaboration through interfacing with appropriate internal partners to enhance share of mind with clients, increase dialogue and to deliver on expertiseUnderstand and analyze clients’ businesses and exposures to provide best suited solutions in full coordination with all relevant business partnersWork closely with appropriate teams to build and develop a platform for clientsEnsure and facilitate optimal discussions with the clientsWork in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructureBuild a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethicsAppropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputationBe familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the sameAppropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
15+ years of experience, including 10+ years' managerial experienceProven influencing and relationship management skillsHave a good understanding and experience of electronic platforms and corporate risk managementKnowledge of CRM systemsExperience in sales process and best practicesAbility to work in high pressure situations
Education:
Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred; managerial experience
