Global Treasury Operations (GTO) is organized by geographic regions and has global responsibility for cash management, operational funding/investment, foreign exchange exposure management activities, and banking services conducted by the Global Treasury organization. This worldwide team is executing American Express’ funding and balance sheet management strategies daily, in a highly controlled manner.
One of the key responsibilities of the regional operations teams is daily cash management to ensure sufficient cash availability at all points of time in 1100+ bank accounts for 180+ legal entities held with 200+ bank partners. Additionally, Foreign Exchange (FX) exposure clearing for AXP entities is managed out of EMEA (UK) and APAC (India) FX trading desks.
Treasury Operations (APAC) team manages daily cash management activities so that sufficient cash is available in 300+ bank accounts for 30+ legal entities held with 100+ bank partners. Additionally, the team also manages FX exposures clearing/hedging for restricted currency markets in APAC region and function as back-up for EMEA GTO in case of Out of Region (OOR) BCP situation.
Global Bank Services COE team, also a part of Global Treasury Operations, is responsible for collaborating with Business partners, Banks, and Regional Treasury Cash & FX Mgt teams in managing AXP’s global banking infrastructure. The team is responsible for ensuring optimal banking infrastructure and compliance with internal Amex Policies and standards.
We are looking for a top caliber Manager who will lead Control and regulatory framework for Global Treasury Operations India team (APAC Treasury Ops and Global Bank Services CoE) and support Project Guardian and other business initiatives in the APAC region. In addition, this role would also be responsible for supporting Cash and FX exposure management for APAC markets as a backup.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Assess Treasury processes for potential risks in collaboration with stakeholders across the enterprise, including control management, regional treasury teams, and both lines of defense. Advise process owners on designing and implementing effective controls to meet regulatory requirements, including new processes and systems. Continuously monitor operations, manage risk, and support reporting. Lead RCSA maintenance, propose improvements, and oversee testing. Maintain GTO policies - AEFP03, AEFP32, and Cash Management Policy Provide support on Regulatory reporting. Lead external / internal audits in collaboration with respective teams for APAC treasury team. Lead Business Impact Analysis (BIA) requirements and Business Continuation Plans (BCP). Facilitate training and testing sessions for Out of Region (OOR) BCP capability. Communicate with teams involved to ensure capability maintained in changing operational environment. Lead Control automaton initiatives, support enterprise projects and business initiatives. Support daily Cash and FX operations as a back-up manager to oversee daily operations.Preferred Qualifications
CA/MBA or a post-graduate degree in Finance/Economics. 7+ years of relevant work experience in a Treasury function with sound knowledge of foreign exchange, derivative instruments, liquidity management and accounting concepts. Impressive understanding of Treasury domain and role it plays in overall Finance organization. Good understanding of financial reporting risk and requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley function as well as internal control frameworks. Firsthand experience on Treasury management systems, like FIS Quantum, Kyriba and FX Trading terminals like Bloomberg/360T/ highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate subject matter intensive matters in a clear and concise manner. Excellent people skills.
