This role is central to shaping the long-term financial health and strategic direction of our hospital system. The Manager will partner with senior leadership, clinical operations, and other key stakeholders to provide critical financial insights, drive strategic planning processes, and ensure resources are aligned with our organizational mission and goals. The Manager of Strategic Finance plays a crucial role in guiding the financial strategy and operational performance of the hospital system. This position involves leading complex financial analyses, developing long-range forecasts, evaluating new business opportunities, and translating financial data into actionable strategies that support clinical excellence and operational efficiency. **Locations** Stanford Health Care **What you will do** + Long-Range Financial Planning: Lead the development, maintenance, and refinement of the organization's Long Range Financial Plan (LRFP), a comprehensive 10-year financial projection that integrates strategic initiatives, capital planning, operational forecasts, and market dynamics across all entities within the hospital system. + Business Plan Development: Create robust business plans and financial models to evaluate the viability and potential return on investment for new services, programs, partnerships, and major capital expenditures, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals and mission of the organization. + Finance & Operations Partnership: Serve as a key liaison between the finance department and operational leaders. Develop and implement performance assessments and profitability analyses for service lines and departments to identify opportunities for improvement and help drive data-informed operational initiatives. + Strategic Initiative Analysis: Conduct thorough financial assessments of new technologies, care delivery models, and other strategic initiatives to determine their financial impact and support informed decision-making by executive leadership. + Financial Modeling & Analysis: Perform ad-hoc financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, and scenario planning to support strategic decision-making, resource allocation, and risk management. + Reporting & Communication: Prepare and present clear, concise financial reports, analyses, and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders. **Education Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related quantitative field Required **Experience Qualifications** + Minimum of 4+ years of progressive work experience in finance or a related analytical field + Experience in Strategic Finance, Corporate Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), or similar roles is highly relevant + Background in Management Consulting or Investment Banking with exposure to financial modeling, strategic analysis, or healthcare projects is strongly preferred + Experience in the healthcare industry (provider, payer, or services) is a significant advantage but not strictly required for candidates with strong transferable skills **Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** + Financial Acumen:• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and corporate finance concepts.• Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing core financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) to understand business performance and drivers. + Technical Skills:• Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced modeling techniques, pivot tables, and data analysis functions.• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is advantageous. + Analytical & Strategic Skills:• Proven ability to develop complex financial models and synthesize large datasets into actionable insights.• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to connect financial details to broader business objectives.• Demonstrated experience evaluating business cases, investment returns (NPV, IRR), and strategic trade-offs. + Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to diverse audiences, including senior executives and clinical leaders.
