We are looking for a technically focused, experienced Solution Engineer for our Medical Data Lake data engineering team.  As a solution engineering colleague in a data lake/data warehousing team you will play a role of program leadership, solution definition, solution design, and data lake/data warehouse architecture.  This role will be expected to have a very technical background, including data pipeline coding to ensure synergy with the engineering and developer team members.

The Solution Engineer is a technical position that needs to build and foster relationships as a partner to our digital partners, including digital marketing solutions, analytical solutions, and architecture teams.  As a Manager role, this position requires global coverage and global design collaboration.  The role will drive large technical solutions and products with interdependencies across many organizations.

 The Solution Engineer will be expected to lead engineer and development teams, providing solution design, best practices, architecture design, code reviews and team leadership.

The ideal candidate is a passionate and results-oriented solution lead with a proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions for the pharmaceutical industry.  

Role Responsibilities

Project solutioning, including scoping, and estimation.

Data sourcing, investigation, and profiling.

Prototyping and design thinking.

Setting and enforcing data pipeline coding standards.

Actively contribute to project documentation and playbook, including but not limited to physical models, conceptual models, data dictionaries and data cataloging.

Creating a product-centric approach.

Accountable for engineering development of both internal and external facing data solutions by conforming to EDSE and Digital technology standards.

Partner with internal / external partners to design, build and deliver best in class data products globally to improve the quality of our customer analytics and insights and the growth of commercial in its role in helping patients.

Drive best practices and world-class product capabilities.

Establish a culture of high performance, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Demonstrate outstanding collaboration and operational excellence.

Drive the engagement of colleagues and partners in global Pfizer initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technical area such as computer science, engineering, IT, or management information.

4+ years of combined data warehouse/data lake experience as a business analyst, delivery lead and/or engineering lead working with data developers and engineers.

Recent Healthcare Life Sciences (pharma preferred) and/or medical analytics data experience is highly preferred.

Domain knowledge in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.

Good knowledge of data governance and data cataloging best practices.

Technical Skillset

Proficient with SQL and solid experience in data profiling.

4+ years of hands-on experience developing data lake/data warehousing projects.

Experience building data pipelines and using ETL tool.

Experience with Snowflake is desirable but not necessary.

Hand on experience with BI tools is desirable but not necessary.

Solid understanding of Agile and CI/CD is preferred.

Familiarity with data privacy standards, pharma industry practices/GDPR compliance is preferred.

Good communication skills.

Good business influencing and stakeholder management skills.
