We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!

This role sits in the Strategic Growth initiatives organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with Marine Technica, Risk Management, Medical, and Food and Beverage Operations within Disney Cruise Line. 

The Manager-Software Engineering will report to the Senior Manager - Technology, Strategic Growth Initiatives.

About The Role & Team:

The Manager, Software Engineer will be responsible to own the end-to-end delivery and sustainment of both custom built and off the shelf Software products for Disney Cruise Line. In addition, will assist Cast member teams in managing priorities, removing roadblocks, and mentoring cast for career growth.  This role will also partner with key stakeholders (Product, Operations, Design, Project Management, etc.) in the delivery of key initiatives from initial concept through funding approval to project completion.

Lead and direct a team of software and system engineers to ensure the DCL Logistics, Medical and Safety & Quality Management applications portfolio are designed for highest quality of Guest and Cast experience including but not limited to a goal of 100% availability, stable and reliable to achieve business objectives and ensure seamless experience.

The candidate must possess the ability to share and communicate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, to business sponsors and partners, technical resources, and executives, in clear concise language that is the effective for each respective group.

The Manager must be able to manage competing priorities between Capital and Expense initiatives including application stability (incidents), security vulnerabilities and remediation, problem solutions and new business capabilities.  An ability to balance technology and business priorities is key for this role.

What You’ll Do:  

Oversee finances and budgets in MyPPM, ensure accurate billing processes, and contribute to forecasting and accrual processes to maintain financial integrity and support organizational objectives  Manage an engineering team responsible for analyzing, designing, programming, debugging, and enhancing software solutions used in various computing environmentsSupervise delivery optimization of large-scale or sophisticated software programs and systems, collaborating multi-functionally to align with business goals and timelinesCoordinate, evaluate, and lead external vendor relationships, acting as the key point of contact, and ensuring contractual obligations are metProactively find opportunities for technology optimization and efficiency improvements, driving innovation and scalabilityCraft and build a roadmap for delivering a world class support model and ensure ongoing health and performance of technology solutionsReview, augment, and build critical metrics for responsible systems, using visualization toolsEngage in estimation and planning across the organization, voicing recommendations, feedback, and solutions from a technical perspective and aligning to the overall project goals to deliver on-time & in-scopeProactively track and assess emerging technologies across the industry to inform strategic decision-making and recommendations

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 8 years of related work experienceExcellent communication and leadership abilities, to ensure effective growth and development of teamProven experience working with COTS products and managing vendor relationships.Experience with software delivery lifecycle, including front end User Interface and backend service development, and multi-vendor environmentsBasic understanding of Database platforms (SQL Server, Oracle), network, and server technologies (Microsoft/Linux)Experience working with Cloud Based technologies (AWS)Experience leading and recruiting technical teams, including software engineers, system and platform engineers, software architects, and technical project managersExperience with Agile development approachesProven experience in monitoring, supporting, and improving application availability and reliabilityA visionary who motivates teams to excel and fosters creativity, consistently driving excellence in all endeavorsAn advocate for a diverse and inclusive culture that encourages innovation and ensures every team member feels a sense of belonging

Required Education:

Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
