POSITION OVERVIEW

A rapidly expanding, entrepreneurial technology company, EBS (part of  Alarm.com), is seeking a motivated Manager of Software Engineering who wants to be part of a fast-paced team. The Video Engineering team is perfect for candidates who want to gain exposure to a wide variety of technologies in the Internet of Things world including smart home and business automation, video streaming, clip uploads, video monitoring and analysis, cutting edge web and mobile app development, large-scale real-time databases, and backend application development and hosting. As a Manager of Software Engineering, you will manage a team of full-stack developers that work on the server-side aspects of residential and commercial video monitoring.

You will have the opportunity to manage projects that span a variety of technical areas while also leading a team of 10+ software engineers. Your responsibilities will include providing career mentorship to your team, staffing projects, overseeing project timelines, generating work for your team, and performing other duties as assigned. Typical projects will involve diverse technologies. You’ll be able to work across various technical areas using the latest technologies and Agile development methods. Strong multi-tasking skills, a can-do attitude and the ability to self-learn are must-have attributes.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field or equivalent work experience. 12+ years of professional software development experience. 5+ years of professional experience managing and mentoring a team of developers. English proficiency. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and non-engineers alike. Good knowledge of object-oriented programming skills; C# a plus. Knowledge of database design and development. Knowledge of networking concepts, principles, and technologies. Experience hiring, developing, and managing a diverse and talented team of engineers. Proven track record delivering large-scale, cross-functional projects on time and in a high-quality manner, exploring technical feasibility and prioritization tradeoffs as well as process improvements along the way.
