You Are:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Manager of Software Asset Management (SAM) to lead the end-to-end management of software assets across the organization. This role is responsible for maintaining license compliance, optimizing usage, and supporting the overall IT Asset Management (ITAM) strategy.

 

The opportunity:

·       Lead the full Software Asset Management lifecycle, including acquisition, inventory, compliance, optimization, and retirement.

·       Administer and continuously enhance ServiceNow SAM Professional, ensuring accurate discovery, normalization, reconciliation, and reporting.

·       Partner with the SCCM and Intune teams to orchestrate automated software deployments and removals across end-user devices.

·       Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation related to Software Asset Management (SAM)

·       Collaborate with business owners and Procurement to support contract renewals, ensuring entitlements align with usage and organizational needs.

·       Manage and document end-of-life (EOL) software, ensuring timely decommissioning and risk mitigation.

·       Onboard Software publishers in SAM Pro and create Effective License Positions (ELPS) for major vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, SAP, VMware, etc.).

·       Monitor software consumption and provide optimization recommendations to reduce cost and mitigate compliance risk.

·       Support internal and external audits, including license true-ups and vendor audit responses.

·       Provide SAM reporting and dashboards to IT leadership and key stakeholders.

·       Work closely with Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and CMDB teams to align asset records and drive data integrity.

·       Stay informed of market trends, licensing changes, and emerging SAM technologies.

 

 

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

 

What you need:

·       The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow SAM Professional, a solid understanding of software publisher licensing models (especially Microsoft), and a collaborative approach to working across IT, procurement, and business units.

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Remote

Compensation Range: $116,000-$174,000

 

 

Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) program with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Part-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
