The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (“GRC”) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner within all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks.

GRC’s Enterprise Risk Management & Risk Oversight organization (ERM&RO) is hiring a Manager who will join a recently created team to provide governance and oversight for Projects across American Express. This new team has recently developed a governance framework to manage the risks associated with Projects across the company and owns and maintains that framework. This includes creating and implementing graduated risk management requirements for Projects based on the risk of the Project; and designing and executing regular reporting on American Express Projects to senior leaders and risk committees.
**Responsibilities**
+ Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of an enterprise Project governance framework, with graduated governance requirements based on Project classifications
+ Identify, track, prioritize, address or challenge the effective remediation of risk-related gaps (including those identified by regulators), to reduce risks in a timely manner to acceptable levels and prevent reoccurrence
+ Communicate risk data, trends, and analysis through structured reports, to key stakeholders, including the board of directors and senior leadership, receive timely, aggregate, accurate, complete and relevant information.
+ Review and provide guidance to first line stakeholders as they develop/maintain procedures to implement the governance framework
+ Understand relevant general laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., Heightened Standards, FFIEC, PMBOK) affecting risk management of large banks, so risk practices comply with overall regulatory frameworks and expectations
+ Contribute to the design, delivery, or completion of appropriate training to relevant first- and second-line professionals and senior management and board members.
**Qualifications:**
**Experience**
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in risk, compliance, legal, or regulatory roles in a Global Systemically Important Bank (GSIB)
+ Experience with project management and governance required; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
+ Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree a plus
+ Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) certification is a plus
**Skills**
+ Strong communication skills is a must, particularly written communication
+ Discretion when exposed to restricted/secret company information
+ Self-starter who works well independently in white space
+ Able to effectively manage multiple and often conflicting priorities under tight timeframes and adapt to frequent change
+ Able to lead without authority derived from band level
+ Highly organized with attention to detail, sense of follow-through, and accountability
**Qualifications**
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
