About the Role The Manager Quality Engineering is a leadership position who leads the quality strategy across both new strategic initiatives and core/legacy products that remain critical to ongoing revenue and customer value. Quality Engineering Manager will define, own, and drive a comprehensive, holistic test strategy in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, collaborating with engineering, product, and commercial teams. This role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on leadership to elevate product quality, optimize testing efficiency, and support velocity without compromising coverage, responsible for managing a QA/Test team within a defined area of responsibility. This position works with other management, plans cross-functional efforts, implements quality and process standards, and provides the team with leadership and day-to-day management to accomplish on-time and efficient delivery of high-quality software products and/or data. Responsibilities + Define, own, and drive the execution of a comprehensive, holistic test strategy that spans both strategic initiatives and legacy products. + Ensure full coverage across all test levels: unit, integration, end-to-end (E2E), exploratory, and non-functional testing. + Align test efforts with business impact, customer usage, and risk—balancing automation with meaningful manual validation. + Collaborate and coordinate across global teams and time zones, ensuring testing strategies are executed consistently and effectively regardless of location. + Champion a quality-first mindset across engineering, product, and commercial organizations, fostering a culture of shared responsibility for product quality. + Operate in an environment without a dedicated testing org—testing is shared across engineers, product managers, CSMs, and commercial teams. + Work closely with these stakeholders to ensure clear expectations, responsibilities, and contribution to testing. + Lead a small team of Quality Engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical direction. + Own the overall test automation strategy and tooling roadmap. + Evaluate, recommend, and implement new AI-assisted or low-code test tools as appropriate. + Drive the creation and maintenance of reliable, scalable, and maintainable automated test suites. + Ensure integration of automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline. + Own bug triage and trend analysis processes. + Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts to identify systemic issues and process gaps. + Define and track quality KPIs (defect density, escaped defects, automation pass rate, etc.). + Identify and implement process improvements to reduce test gaps and feedback cycles. + Partner with engineering leadership to align quality efforts with sprint and release planning. + Collaborate with PMs to ensure test coverage aligns with business impact and risk. + Work with Commercial and CSM teams to incorporate customer feedback and field-reported issues into test design. Requirements + 6+ years in software testing, quality engineering, or test management. + Proven experience creating and implementing end-to-end test strategies in agile, cross-functional teams. + Deep understanding of modern test practices, test automation frameworks, and CI/CD integration. + Experience preparing and presenting testing strategy, metrics, and quality updates to senior leadership and executive stakeholders. + Ability to clearly communicate complex quality topics in business terms and align QA outcomes with organizational goals. + Hands-on experience with tools like Playwright, Selenium, BrowserStack, or similar. + Strong analytical skills to identify quality trends and drive actionable insights. + Experience leading or mentoring QA/QE professionals. + Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. + Experience working in a hybrid or decentralized testing model. + Experience managing and working with global teams across time zones. Preferred Skills + Familiarity with AI-driven test platforms or low-code test authoring tools. + Experience supporting both greenfield strategic projects and long-term maintenance of core systems. + Background in managing test coverage for customer-facing and revenue-critical platforms. + Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
