Manager-Payroll
Overview Job Summary Oversees the payroll department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll records in compliance with company policies, federal/state regulations, and healthcare industry standards. Manages a team of payroll professionals, drives process improvements, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support the organization’s financial and operational objectives. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities + Supervises and coordinates biweekly payroll processing for employees and monthly physician payroll, ensuring timeliness and accuracy. + Leads payroll team, providing training, performance evaluations, and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration. + Serves as the primary payroll representative in cross-functional meetings, including HR, Finance, and IT teams. + Ensures data integrity across payroll systems, implementing controls and audits to mitigate errors. + Oversees testing and implementation of software patches, upgrades, and system integrations, collaborating with IT to resolve issues. + Develops and maintains federal and state compliance reporting, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., IRS, DOL). + Analyzes financial and operational payroll data to provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership. + Drives continuous improvement in payroll processes, leveraging automation and technology to enhance efficiency. + Manages vendor relationships for payroll-related services and tools. + Completes assigned departmental and organizational goals. Specifications Experience Minimum Required + 6+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role. Proven expertise in healthcare payroll, complex system integrations, and regulatory compliance. Preferred/Desired + 8+ years with experience managing payroll in a multi-state or large healthcare organization. Education Minimum Required + Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field. Equivalent experience (8+ years) may substitute for degree. Preferred/Desired + Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field. Training Minimum Required + Training in payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Oracle) and compliance regulations. Preferred/Desired + Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification. Special Skills Minimum Required + Strong leadership and team management skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and payroll reporting tools (e.g., Oracle) Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Preferred/Desired + Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and process automation.
