Job Summary

\n

The Manager of Pastoral Services manages Baylor Scott & White Health pastoral services. Provides for the spiritual, religious, sacramental, moral, and ethical needs of patients and staff.

\n

Work Model

\n

100% onsite Monday - Friday

\n

Exception: Will be listed as the admin on-call for shifts that may need coverage due to staff call-outs, PTO or facility emergencies. 

\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n\nManages and coordinates pastoral care, counseling, and religious services. This includes sacramental ministry, memorial services, baptisms, weddings, anointing, and bereavement needs.\nSupervises chaplains and mentors CPE student chaplains. They provide assessment and support to palliative care patients following joint commission requirements.\nSupports the end-of-life care for patients by offering pastoral support and counseling to patients and families.\nServes as department representative to facility President or other managers.\nCoordinates and provides consultation to physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and staff. This is part of an interdisciplinary team to meet patient needs and improve care.\nConducts studies to advance knowledge and develop effective religious ministry for patients, family, and staff.\nDevelops relationships with local churches, community agencies, and service organizations. Supports the Baylor Scott & White Health community. Recruits, trains, and coordinates pastoral care volunteers.\nDevelops and maintains procedures for keeping records of spiritual counseling for patients.\nOversees, staff, and volunteers and provides clinical supervision at the level specified upon consults.\nConsults with staff as needed; partners and reports to Senior Pastoral Care managers.\n\n

Key Success Factors

\n\nKnowledge of philosophical systems and religions.\nKnowledge of the methods and methods of pastoral care and the role of a chaplain in an institutional setting.\nKnowledge of the religious beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations.\nAble to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing.\nInterpersonal and listening skills.\nSkill in counseling patients, family members and staff.\nAbility to counsel and comfort people during periods of stress.\nAbility to effectively participate as a member of a professional therapeutic team.\nAbility to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with co-workers, health professionals, volunteers, community clergy and the general public.\nAbility to use broader intentions to regulate how best to use resources to meet schedules and goals.\nAbility to make or approve effective hiring and termination conclusions.\nAbility to evaluate and recommend changes to policies, and establish procedures that affect the managed organization.\nGeneral computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.\nDenominational endorsement for chaplaincy, ordination or commissioning to ministry preferred.\nClinical pastoral education (CPE) certification by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) preferred.\n\n

QUALIFICATIONS

\n\nEDUCATION - Masters' \n\nMAJOR - Theological Studies or Related Field\n\n\nEXPERIENCE - 4 Years of Experience\n\nLeadership experience preferred\n\n\nCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION \n\nBoard Certified Chaplain\n\nAPC or NACC\n\n\n\n\n
