The Manager for Rehabilitation Therapy Services is responsible for service delivery, quality improvement, and financial performance of the outpatient rehabilitation program. This includes leadership, training and supervision of staff, including clinical and administrative managers/supervisors as well as clinical staff for PT,
OT, Speech Language Pathology and Cardiac Rehab programs. Personnel decisions of this position include
employee selection, performance evaluation, disciplining, and retention. These decisions directly affect the
fiscal performance of the department as well as its’ effectiveness and efficiency. Patient care related decisions
include staffing, problem solving, monitoring of productivity and coordination with hospital departments for
organizational efficiencies. This position is influential in affecting the outcome of patient recovery and
customer satisfaction to the patients of OHSU Health. The total departmental is approximately 85 FTE.
Function/Duties of PositionCustomer Service:
Maintains high quality customer service to both external customers (patient, referring providers, insurance carriers) and internal customers (OHSU health care providers and staff) that meets or exceeds the service standards of the health care industryEnsures prompt and professional communication efforts, crisis management and conflict resolution skillsFacilitates positive intra-organizational relationships through joint projects Responds pro-actively in standard complaint processingDemonstrates flexibility through patient care coverage in departmental service needsPersonnel Management
Directs supervision of all therapists. Interviews, hires, orients, and trains employees under own supervisionCoordinates with Human Resources for recruitment and required processing of position changesCommunicates performance expectations, develops work plans and takes disciplinary actions for performance issuesMonitors successful completion of competencies, proposes salary increases, assigns and approves workPrepares and communicates productivity documents to department director. Problem solves and provides follow up to improve variances Assists employees with problem identification and resolutionBuilds and supports staff engagementFinance and Budget:
Prepares & monitors budgetsMaintains equipment and space inventoriesMaintains working knowledge of rehab specific billing processes, coordinating changes to ensure appropriate patient and payer billingClinical Applications
Monitors scheduling, patient volume and flow and patient provider’s time utilizationInvestigates patient and provider complaintsDemonstrates knowledge of national and state practice acts and Oregon Administrative RulesProvides direct clinical evaluation and treatment services up to eight (8) hours each week, as needed and in alignment with the individual’s goalsExhibits clear understanding of Medicare guidelines for therapy servicesDemonstrates continuing education in personnel management and appropriate clinical skills.Other Duties as Assigned
Required Qualifications Masters DegreePhysical, Occupational or Speech Therapist with current Oregon licensure; PT or OT preferred; 5 years experience in the field of physical therapy or occupational therapy and at least 3 years in a supervisory role.Valid licensure and certification in Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology or Occupational TherapyJob Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):
Experience in the management of therapy staff including training, promoting and disciplining; Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; Strong skills in problem solving, prioritization, decision making and time management; Understanding of therapy team dynamics and ability to positively impact the work environment; Adept with computer applications Preferred Qualifications Experience in a union environment Additional DetailsOffice work schedule associated with leadership in a clinical setting; i.e. may require long hours to achieve timely completion of work products.
Occasional business travel for operations or education reasons.
Subject to computer work for several hours, as needed.
May be expected to utilize all patient care equipment and office equipment within work area.
Telework for 1-2 days per week
