Section Head Electrical Switchyard & Transformer

Strategic Planning and Process Improvement:

Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans in conjunction with peers for the continuous improvement of the Switchyard, Transformer and associated areas.

Review and implement process/system improvements as per future needs and identify system upgradation opportunities.

Coordinate with other departments to ensure integrated operations and compliance with company policies.

Participate in cross-site knowledge sharing, conclaves, and seminars.

Operational Excellence and Maintenance Management:

Provide direction and guidance to ensure efficient and reliable maintenance of Switchyard, Power Transformer, and associated areas.

Lead proactive planning and execution of systems to prevent future problems, including the preparation and review of SOPs, JSAs, and SMPs.

Oversee the annual overhaul planning and execution, ensuring the availability of all power transformer and switchyard equipment like circuit breaker, Current Transformer, PT (Potential Transformer), CVT (Capacity Voltage Transformer), Isolators, Earth Switch, Earthing systems, etc. along with the protection systems, SCADA and metering systems.

Monitor and ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), and condition monitoring.

Oversee timely testing of electrical equipment and monitoring of planned switchyard area outages.

Monitor and ensure timely closure of notifications and work orders on SAP.

Budget and Inventory Management:

Preparation and finalization of the budget for Switchyard, Power Transformer, and associated areas.

Approve purchase requests (PRs) raised by Leads based on the Delegation of Authority (DoA) matrix.

Manage spares inventory and development of vital indigenous spares associated with the area (including radiators, bushings, Turret CT, Circuit breakers, CT, PT, CVT, isolators, relays etc.).

Monitor contractor performance and certify bills for payment.

Ensure cost-effective management of resources and operations within the department.

Business Sustainability:

Perform RCA, MoC, FMEA, ZFO and ensure implementation of timely technical audits including ISO, IWMS, 5S, etc.

Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA, ABEM and CHETNA guidelines within the department.

Ensure the safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.

Mitigate hazardous processes and ensure participation in mock drills.

Compliance with legal and statutory requirements, including electrical license renewals and certifications.

Coordinate with government agencies such as GETCO, PGVCL, SLDC, WRLDC, ALDC, NRLDC for integration and compliance with Digitalisation initiatives.

Digitalisation and Automation:

Implement process improvement projects and review newer technology for adoption.

Lead and execute comprehensive Digitalisation strategies to optimize operational efficiency.

Innovate and implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.

Oversee system improvement through innovative ideas and best practices.

People and Team Engagement:

Participate in the recruitment process to attract and retain skilled personnel for the team.

Drive and enhance employee engagement across the team and business associated to sustain a positive workplace culture.

Lead, inspire, and mentor the team to foster a high-performance culture and ensure cross-skilling through job rotation, technical, and behavioural training.

Ensure proper succession planning in the team.

Foster a conducive environment for high employee retention by ensuring team satisfaction and professional development.

Educational Qualification:

BE/B.tech in Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.

Work Experience (Range of years):

18+ years of experience in electrical maintenance and management within a power distribution.

Preferred Industry:

Experience in the power sector, specifically with expertise in switchyard operations and maintenance, is highly desirable.
