We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and oversee our manufacturing operations in a dynamic metal mechanic environment. This role will manage a team of 5 salaried supervisors and over 200 hourly employees across a two-shift operation. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a proven track record in production management, process engineering, continuous improvement, and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction to production, process engineering, and continuous improvement teams.
Manage a two-shift manufacturing operation, including production planning, troubleshooting, staffing, order monitoring, scheduling, and technical training.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and champion a lean culture throughout the organization.
Analyze production and operational reports, identifying and resolving issues to reduce costs and prevent delays.
Support supervisors in employee relations, problem-solving, goal setting, scheduling, training, and disciplinary actions.
Partner with plant staff to develop and implement safety and quality programs, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Oversee and sustain 6S methodology across the shop floor and facility.
Ensure compliance with environmental, state, and federal regulations with a focus on sustainability.
Collaborate with HR and supervisors to address employee concerns and workplace issues effectively.
Develop and maintain operational budgets, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
5+ years of professional-level manufacturing experience.
3+ years of managerial or supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in metal mechanic manufacturing systems.
Skilled in developing supervisors and team leaders.
Strong problem-solving and change management skills.
Experience working in unionized environments.
Proven ability to lead operational turnarounds and implement cultural change.
