Our dedicated, expert team at AdventHealth South Overland Park provides excellent care to communities of southeastern Johnson County, with 24/7 emergency room services, orthopedic surgery, labor and delivery, advanced imaging center, physical therapy and more.
The role you’ll contribute:
Clinically trained minister serving as the leader responsible for overseeing the chaplain team. Together with the chaplain team, the senior chaplain provides spiritual care to our customers and their families, partners, and team members. Participates as a member of the healthcare team in evaluating spiritual needs, provides one-to-one, short-term spiritual support to patients, families and care team members in inpatient, outpatient, urgent-care, corporate and other specialized care settings. Also provides supportive brief spiritual counseling and community referrals, following a comprehensive spiritual wholeness assessment of concerns. Provides in-services, seminars and/or workshops for team members and community in various areas of need. Actively supports Mission integration through initiatives such as Spiritual Ambassadors and Creation Health within the organization and in the community. Fosters a sense of mission that enhances a culture of Love, experience of Joy, and a sense of Peace within the hospital and the healthcare team. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Qualifications required:
Master of Divinity or equivalent meeting the Association of Professional Chaplains requirements
Minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by Association for Clinical Pastoral Education
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a chaplain are preferred
Ordination/commissioning or Licensure as minister in good standing with the Seventh-day Adventist Church
Eligible for Board Certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains
Qualifications preferred:
Congregational pastoral experience
Residency accredited by Association for Clinical Pastoral Education
Board Certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains
Endorsement by Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries, and Board eligible with Association of Professional Chaplains
