Job Summary:
The Manager of Finance, reporting to the Director of Business Systems, will serve as an integral member of the team and will be responsible for business plans, service line profitability, and operational finance support at HaysMed. The Manager of Finance supports leadership by serving as the go-to resource for financial analysis, operational analysis, and other data analysis needs. Together with the Decision Support team, this role will create business plans, support labor management work, identify and implement business technology solutions, and analyze financial and operational models to ensure leaders have the information needed to make discerning business decisions.

Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; 5+ years of related work experience with progressively increasing responsibility and scope; Advanced software applications skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and other applications in the Microsoft Office Suite.Preferred:
Master’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, business analytics, or related field. 2+ years of healthcare decision support experience and/or healthcare operations experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Supervises Finance staff including annual performance evaluations and driving associate satisfaction. Oversees labor management including assisting in the creation of productivity monitoring and labor resource evaluation tools, partnering with leaders to develop labor plans including course correction plans when needed, and identifying opportunities for better labor management with the information available. Ensures timely, accurate, and complete information is provided to labor benchmarking vendor; reviews benchmarking reports and uses that information in labor management. Understands the nuances of the cost accounting system, partnering with the vendor and internal accounting/decision support teams to ensure the model is working as expected, and oversees audits/validation of the costing model. Evaluates the reimbursement and expenses of hospital programs to determine the profitability of service lines and/or make recommendations for improvements to ensure financial sustainability. Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, third party reimbursement, and data analytics. Identifies and researches financial variances in a timely manner. Conducts financial and/or operational analyses and interprets results to identify areas of improvement and make data-driven recommendations to leadership. Manages complex datasets by identifying, aggregating, cleaning and validating data from multiple sources in preparation for reporting use. Uses analytical techniques to design, develop, and maintain reports, scorecards, and dashboards that provide insight to the organization. Collaborates with clinical and operational staff to develop and maintain performance measurement processes such as benchmarking, KPI development (clinical outcomes, cost, length of stay, patient satisfaction, etc.), systems documentation, and reporting/dashboard deployment through gathering requirements, defining specifications, and establishing goals or benchmarks. Collaborates with management and user community to develop strategies for enhancement, improvement, or replacement of systems to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality of data. Works efficiently and effectively with peers in finance/accounting, department leaders at the facilities, and executives. Serves as part of the onsite finance team providing support to leaders for financial, operational, and data analysis needs. Day-to-day responsibilities require good use of judgment regarding timely and appropriate communication with the hospital staff. Recognizes the need for teamwork and functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrates ability to effectively manage multiple projects. Can form detailed project plans, develop scope of projects, identify and collaborate with necessary internal/external stakeholders to ensure successful projects are executed among affected areas. Lead or participate in providing technology initiatives for simple to complex business problems within technology business systems. Performs as educational resource for department leaders in areas such as: Cost/managerial accounting techniques to review and explain service line profitability and potential improvements. Labor optimization and productivity management. Data proficiency to allow leaders to read, write, analyze, and communicate data (especially the “why”) in context to drive decisions. Process proficiency to allow leaders to understand how data is created and why the steps for data creation matter.
