Manager of Communications - Mountain West

We have an opening for a Communications Manager in the Mountain West Division, which encompasses over 215 store locations across 11 states. This role reports to the Director of Communications and Public Affairs and is an in-office position located in Boise, Idaho. 

Support the development and execution of proactive communications initiatives across top-tier and consumer-facing media outlets. This position will directly work with senior leaders and partner closely with the division Communication leads, Investor Relations, Legal and core departments throughout the business to support PR programming that is integrated across all appropriate channels.

Key Responsibilities:

Regional Leadership & Media Relations

Lead communications and media relations for the northern region of the Mountain West Division, in coordination with the Division’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs. Act as media spokesperson for region when needed; draft and distribute press releases, pitch earned media stories, and coordinate media interview opportunities. Track legislative developments in the region, providing updates and insights to the Director of Communications and Public Affairs.  Meet with local government officials as needed.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

Develop and maintain community partnerships with local media outlets and nonprofit organizations to support regional engagement and enhance brand loyalty to earn customers for life. Collaborate with corporate team and community partners to support events and sponsorships in Idaho, reflecting the company’s deep roots and headquarters presence in the state. Coordinate ACI Foundation fundraising efforts with stores and non-profits. Assist in evaluating grant applications and recommending funding allocations. Support stores and community partners by coordinating donations and evaluating solicitation requests.

Internal Communications

Assist the Director of Communications and Public Affairs with creation and management of content for internal platforms including the associate app, retail portal, internal Facebook page, digital signage (TVs), interoffice communications, and internal recognition programs.

Requirements:

Experience developing strategic communications programs and managing external agencies. Exceptional writing and storytelling skills. Ability to simplify complex concepts into readily understandable language and engaging storylines. Prior experience pitching and placing earned media stories; deep understanding of media relations strategies and tactics. Strong business acumen and experience partnering with a variety of business stakeholders, able to influence and counsel executives and cross-departmental groups. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Able to bring together different views, goals, and needs to find alignment and deliver business value. Ability to deal with confidential information.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or writing-intensive field of study preferred. Five to seven (5-7) years of previous experience in corporate communications or public relations experience. 

Salary:
The annual salary for this role ranges from $82,000 to $120,000; starting salary will vary based on circumstances including previous experience and qualifications. Associates in this role are also eligible for healthcare, 401K, sick pay, and Flexible Time Off (FTO).
