Job Summary

The Nuclear Projects Team plays an essential role in the vetting and organizing of new business initiatives that will drive the division’s continuous improvement and long-term growth.  The scope and scale of these special initiatives can vary, but they trend towards long-term, strategic projects that will impact Dominion Energy’s fleet of four nuclear power stations.

 

Dominion Energy is actively seeking a Manager of the Nuclear Project Team (“Manager”).  The Manager will lead the team’s efforts to transform new ideas into deliverable projects. Further, the Manager will be the key liaison between the Project Team and executive leadership of the Nuclear division.  Success in the role depends heavily on the Manager’s ability to effectively navigate between engineering limitations, financial stewardship, and regulatory requirements. In all aspects of the role, the Manager will need build productive partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders.

 

More specifically, the Manager will be responsible for: 1) Scope, schedule and cost performance of large capital projects; 2) Overseeing the development of applicable studies; 3) Negotiation of high dollar contracts; 4) Selection and oversight of supplemental engineering firms required to develop the full scope of a project; 5) Supplying and managing and engineering support for projects.  One area of focus for the Nuclear Projects Team will be the leveraging of common technical solutions across the fleet.

 

Further, the Manager may be responsible for the following technical areas, as applicable: A) Program development, including the identification and establishment of appropriate processes and procedures to conduct project activities in accordance with NRC and quality assurance requirements; B) Project management for engineering to include providing interface between design and construction efforts and station departments such as operations, maintenance, outage and planning, radiation protection, security, training, and others as required.

 

The Manager will be required to communicate with exceptional clarity and timing in order to orchestrate the various stakeholders involved in a specific project.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

To be qualified for the Manager- Nuclear Projects, one must meet the following minimum requirements:

 

Eight (8) or more years of work experience in the Nuclear power industry Prior leadership and project management experience tied to the implementation of new business initiatives Proven ability to organize, lead, and motivate coalitions of subject matter experts Prior experience with financial analysis to include preparing and managing budgets Proven ability to judge business opportunities, risks, and returns on investment Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to include the ability to present compelling arguments to executive leaders Ability to travel overnight for a week or more at a time.

 

The preferred candidate will also possess:

 

A proven track record of driving new business initiatives in the Nuclear power industry A variety of nuclear work experience to include operations, maintenance, and/or engineering Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of the preferred level of education:

 

A preferred candidate will have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

 

Highly preferred candidates will have also obtained advanced degrees or certifications in business, finance, or closely related disciplines.
