Manager - Non Production Inventory Accounting

Description

This position is part of global inventory accounting team to lead activities related to Global Non-production and Industrial Material Inventory accounting including books (monthly) close process, establishing annual obsolescence reserve rates for plants across globe, manage all Inventory accounting policies, provide guidance to team on accounting topics, support I-ERP accounting launches, present in project governance meeting, and ensure delivering established KPI’s. To manage about five-member team in India and to interact with cross functional  teams across the globe.

Location – Onsite - Sholinganallur, Chennai

Reporting – To General Manager, Inventory Accounting

Qualifications and Skills:

Chartered Accountant or Cost and Management Accounting is preferredMinimum of eight years of experience in accounting rolesUS GAAP and IFRS knowledge is preferredStrong knowledge of accounting principles and inventory accounting practices

Strong understanding of internal control and accounting policies to ensure a robust control environment

Proficient in ERP systems and analytical tools (e.g., S4 HANA, Alteryx, Power BI)Excellent analytical skills and attention to detailSense of curiosity to support modernization effortsStrong interpersonal and communication skills; confidence interacting with senior managementAbility to independently manage multiple projects and competing priorities, while keeping management informedStrong drive for results; can deliver and mobilize others to deliver requirements

Strong critical thinking skills, with ability to follow a ‘how might we’ path to resolving issues

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting analysts, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment

 

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Accounting Management:Lead the accounting processes related to Global non-production inventory, ensuring accurate valuation and reportingEnsure compliance with relevant accounting standards, including GAAPAssist/manage with other inventory accounting processes as neededMonitor and assess performance and key performance metrics of the teamPresent to global accounting directors on projects, KPIs, policies changes etc.Proactively follow up on identified issues, status updates and address any questions or requests for clarification from leadershipFinancial Reporting and Analysis:Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to inventory processesProvide insights into inventory levels, trends, and variances to support strategic decision-makingInternal Controls and Compliance:Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with company policiesPerform periodic reviews of inventory processes to identify areas for improvementFamiliar with Inventory policies and address queries from users. Lead policy manuals for the entire inventory accounting.Review and support quality and on time account reconciliations and sub-ledgers processesSupport various audits and control self-assessmentsContinuous Improvement Initiatives:Identify opportunities to streamline inventory accounting processes
