**Job Description:**
Johnson & Johnson’s MedTech Data & AI organization is recruiting for an experienced **Manager – Data Engineering** . This position will be located in Raritan, New Jersey and may require up to 10% travel.

The MedTech DATA & AI team is leading a digital transformation to better serve our customers with a specific focus on how we can most effectively use data and technology to leapfrog our competition. As such, we are looking for a Manager of Data Engineering to join our team and lead Johnson & Johnson’s MedTech data curation efforts around our foundational data platforms to enable the future of Data Consumption via Analytics and Artificial Intelligence.
We are seeking a creative problem solver with strong data and engineering skills who collaborates well with business partners to bring forth new ideas, challenges the status quo, delivers innovations, and determines how to best support the business through the effective use of data. You will lead our critical Common Data Layer curation, managing resources, working with vendors and business peers to identify information needs and develop data products that deliver value beyond those that exist today. You will also influence the future state of our MedTech data strategy.
The Manager of Data Engineering will serve as the Technical Product Owner for the MedTech business for all data engineering work in support of the Common Data Layer. They will ensure the appropriate application of various methods to transform raw data into useful information for consumption by various groups and downstream systems. They will grow and optimize J&J MedTech data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimize e2e data flow and collection for multi-functional teams. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The successful individual will be motivated by the prospect of optimizing and maturing our company’s data architecture to support the next generation of products and data initiatives. They will innovate and influence the MedTech Data Strategy that will best support the Digital Strategy and drive valuable business outcomes.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Be responsible for the vision and prioritization of new features and/or enhancements to the CDL MT curation product and help translate business needs into prioritized user stories, accountable for value delivery and value realization at the squad level
+ Shape and prioritize backlog, utilizing business expertise and understanding of customer needs, translate requirements into user stories & acceptance criteria
+ Balance business value with technical feasibility while prioritizing stories and features, optimizing cost and improving delivery efficiency
+ Act as the “voice of the customer” within the squad to ensure the squad “builds the right thing”
+ Accountable for shaping and hitting squad objectives and key results
+ Manage full time resource/s, contractors and vendors
+ Drive continuous improvement across the product lifecycle
+ Facilitate release planning, sprint planning and demos with partners
+ Own and facilitate documentation and information
+ Collaborate to ensure all partners are clear on product roadmap activities, design, interdependencies and timelines

**Education:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
**Experience and Skills:**
**Required:**
+ Proven product team leadership experience in Information Technology
+ Experience in or knowledge of Data Engineering/ETL practices and related languages/technologies
+ Strong problem-solving skills with ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
+ Knowledge of public cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, and/or GCP
+ Experience managing resources
+ Ability to collect, understand and convey customer requirements
+ Design robust batch, incremental, and change data capture pipelines
+ Build, optimize, and troubleshoot data pipelines
+ Build consensus across silos, drive co-owned roadmaps and OKRs
+ Model domain-driven data products with clean, business-aligned schema
+ Translate user needs into actionable backlog, prioritize by business value
**Preferred:**
+ Experience working with Azure Databricks
+ Knowledge of CI/CD software development practices
**Other:**
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills
+ Up to 10% domestic and international travel
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $146,200 to $197,800.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
