Materials Manager

The materials manager’s responsibilities include leading and supervising personnel while participating in the facility’s material scheduling, material planning, purchasing and customer service functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Lead, supervise personnel and participate in the facility’s material scheduling, material planning, purchasing and customer service functions.
· Utilize lean manufacturing principles to provide information to production to meet customer demand and timing.
· Direct the management of production planning, scheduling, shipping, receiving, and material handling personnel.
· Maintain an MRP system to accurately forecast material requirements to suppliers.
· Utilize lean manufacturing principles to assist in driving out inefficiencies and to meet or exceed inventory turn targets for the facility.
· Lead CI efforts to improve everyday efficiency of materials system.
· Responsible for developing long term systems & structure to support continued growth initiatives.
· Responsible for Just-in-Time production line deliveries.
· Champion perpetual inventory system with responsibility for all system activities and timing.
· Motivate materials team to work together in the most efficient manner by managing the process of innovative change effectively as well as mitigating team conflict and communication problems.
· Demonstrates ability to speak effectively in front of groups and give professional presentations.
· Sets and communicates clear expectations and holds personnel accountable for attaining those standards.
· Possess well-developed managerial, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Maintains measurements and continuous improvement of key performance metrics.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in related field preferred.
· Five years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
· Detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
· Excellent project management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Demonstrate knowledge and proven success in inventory reduction.
· Proven ability and success in cost reduction strategy development and execution.
· Having prior ERP experience is a plus, with experience with SAP preferred.
· Computer proficient in MS Office.

Work Environment:
The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g. working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritating chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing, or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.
Physical Demands:
The work requires physical exertion such as extended periods indoors and outdoors of remaining stationery, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving at least 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
