Job Summary - Manager Inpatient Phlebotomy CHW
Provides overall management direction for specific sections in the Laboratory. Develops and meets budgetary expectations. Supports the selection and implementation of new equipment. Keeps new and revised policies / procedures in place. Represents the Laboratory on intra- and interdepartmental committees. Manages the activities of staff who are engaged in providing laboratory and pathology services. Interacts and consults with physicians and clinical staff regarding lab results and to provide appropriate service levels. Engages in several administrative functions to ensure that laboratory and pathology services function efficiently and economically. Markets laboratory and pathology services.
Essential Functions - Manager Inpatient Phlebotomy CHWInteracts with and consults with physicians and clinical staff about patients and problematic lab and pathology work and the interpretation of test results.Designs processes and procedures to ensure efficient turn-around time and accuracy of laboratory and pathology results. Assesses and evaluates equipment to ensure its operational efficiency and to determine whether the purchase or upgrade of new equipment is viable.Facilitates and oversees billing information necessary for the cost accounting system. Consults with financial personnel to comply with reporting information required by insurance companies, third party administrators, and Medicare.Provides technical expertise to laboratory and pathology staff.Manages the activities of professional and support staff who are engaged in providing pathology and laboratory services. Facilitates the training and continuing education of staff members. Provides direction and support to subordinate staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.
