Data Governance Manager - II
The Opportunity
Data Governance Manager leads the data governance program within the Enterprise Data & Analytics function. This role oversees the implementation and management of data governance policies, standards, and cataloging procedures, ensuring the quality, consistency, and security of data across the organization. The Data Governance Specialist works closely with data stakeholders to understand data requirements, resolve data quality issues, and promote data governance principles.
Your key responsibilities:
You will be part of diverse teams of professionals across different geographies to deliver a wide range of data and analytics services. You will be solving complex issues and driving growth across the Enterprise Data & Analytics function.
Specifically:
Oversee the implementation and management of data governance policies and procedures. Manage data assets to ensure data quality, consistency, and data security. Develop and maintain glossary, data dictionaries, data catalogs, data lineage and other data management & governance tools. Partner with data stewards, IT teams and business data owners to identify and remediate data quality issues. Partner with data modeling, data architecture and BI teams on the critical data products, data flows and usage. Monitor and report on data quality metrics and compliance with data governance policies. Lead, mentor, and guide a team of data governance specialists and analysts. Promote advanced tools and technologies to elevate the data governance function Promote data governance principles and practices across the organization. Develop and maintain inventory of the enterprise data. Design and develop data governance roadmap and provide reports regarding the progress. Lead on aligning respective data sharing between enterprise and its clients, vendors, and partners. Mitigate risks by monitoring enterprise performance regarding data-related goals and standards that add more value. Define and manage roles such as Data Users, Data Owners, and Data Stewards. Focus on eliminating or minimizing the risk of regulatory fines.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field. 15 years of experience in a data governance role, including at least 7 years in a leadership or management role with strong understanding of data governance principles and practices. 7+ years of experience in leading one or more data governance and data quality product(s) initiative 7+ years of experience in implementing data quality monitoring and remediation processes. 7+ years of experience in data catalog, data lineage, data quality tools and data governance platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Informatica Data Governance, IBM IGC, Erwin DI, etc., and metadata integration tools such as Manta or Metadex. High proficiency in relational databases and data structures, including structured and unstructured data formats. Strong experience in a metadata field of work (ontology, taxonomy, semantics, or computational linguistics). Experience in technology assessment and proven ability to make recommendations to senior members of the team. Experience in implementing data privacy laws and regulations including knowledge on FCRA, CRA, GLBA, Data Privacy rules in addition to CCPA and GDPR. High proficiency in data analysis and profiling using SQL and Python. Experience with data warehousing and BI & analytics. Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake. Experience with working with data integration tools such as Informatica, Talend, CloverDX, DBT. Proficiency in reporting tools such as Tableau and PowerBI. Strong Financial and Insurance industry knowledge. Experience collaborating with IT, Data Analytics, Security, Compliance and Business teams, contributing to cross-functional projects and initiatives. Proficiency in agile-based development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban for collaborating, developing, and delivering data products. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Proven leadership skills with experience in managing a team. Strong analytical and time management skills.
