**About the Role** Uber's Commerce Platform Engineering group is vital for maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure that enables all Uber lines of business to conduct transactions. As a central and mission-critical system, all commerce in and out of Uber flows through these systems, demanding strict 4 9's availability. This is one of our largest scalable systems, and its complex day-to-day interactions require careful coordination from engineers with a deep sense of quality, security, and ingenuity. We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to be one of the leaders within our Enterprise Payments organization in our mission to enable B2B payments to flow as seamlessly as B2C here at Uber. We work with all lines of business within the company, from emerging businesses to large growth bets, ensuring that they can focus on their operations while we handle all the complications and nuances of the payments space. **What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points** \-\-\-\- What the Candidate Will Do ---- 1. Manage a team of 8-15 engineers with varying levels of seniority. 2. Lead the team’s execution by setting and managing team deliverables and foster individual growth by working closely with each team member. 3. Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners like PMs, TPMs, and other operational teams in bringing the team’s roadmap to life. 4. Create a compelling vision for the team that aligns with company goals, and deliver on that promise by conceptualizing projects through to high-quality completion. 5. Engage in extensive and constant collaboration with partner teams across US, Amsterdam, and India locations. 6. Develop a deep technical understanding of the platform and be able to represent the team in technical discussions without direct engineer involvement. You are expected to be a hands-on manager. \-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ---- 1. 4+ years as an Engineering Manager 2. 10+ years as a Software Engineer, preferably working with complex, distributed systems 3. Strong execution skills with proven ability to build, manage, and motivate teams to do their best work. 4. Strong stakeholder management skills to be able to partner effectively with other engineering and cross-functional teams. \-\-\-\- Preferred Qualifications ---- 1. Track record of exceptional execution and delivery while sustaining a healthy pace and not burning out teams. 2. Experience in B2B domain, preferably in Payments, with an understanding of the needs of a business end user and traditional business processes. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
