The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role

This position is responsible and accountable for the implementation and control of the Project Health & Safety Management System (HSMS), in addition to developing, implementing and monitoring Health and Safety strategies to support the Project Leadership Team in delivering safe construction outcomes and the provision of a healthy and safe working environment for all personnel. The Site Safety Manager is responsible for reporting progress and status to the Site Leadership Team and Operations Safety Managers.

Qualifications

Essential

Advanced Diploma – Work Health & Safety or equivalent Construction Induction Card Drivers Licence Incident Investigation Training White Card

Desirable

Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety Cert IV in Training & Assessment

Experience

Essential

Minimum 15 years’ experience working in construction and or tunnelling senior safety roles Managerial experience working on a multidisciplinary, major infrastructure project of similar size and complexity to the Snowy 2.0 Project Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of safety initiatives Advanced knowledge of relevant WHS Acts, Regulations, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice, and practical interpretation of same Leadership, mentoring and management of teams Demonstrated experience in the management of occupational health and hygiene, specifically airborne contaminants Safety management tools and techniques Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls Demonstrable understanding of construction delivery techniques and high-risk construction activities Client liaison Regulator engagement experience Industrial relations knowledge and experience Safety management experience on large-scale construction projects Knowledge of and experience in underground excavation techniques (drill and blast, sequential excavation method, TBM) Familiar with managing OFSC system compliance
