Full-Time/ 32 Hours Weekly
Provides leadership, guidance and supervision to counseling and professional services staff for outpatient co-occurring services offered in our Des Moines, Newton and Indianola offices. Continuously monitors and assesses the status of counseling/therapeutic services offered/provided to children, adults and families. Works with counseling staff to enhance and expand the scope, quality, and consistency of therapeutic services/interventions to assure that research-based/best practices are being utilized. Coordinates the development and teaching of educational programs for mental health and substance programs staff. Participates in the successful development and implementation of human services related undergraduate and graduate internships in the mental health and substance abuse program areas. Performs tasks and makes decisions that require independent judgment, are complex in nature, involve short and long range planning, and require the use of high level problem solving techniques. Assists with coordination of internal/external services to provide as complete a continuum of care as possible.
**MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED** **:**
+ Master’s degree in a human services related discipline from an accredited program, required.
+ Must be independently licensed Masters level prepared mental health practitioner (or eligible within six months of hire). Three (3) years of post-licensure clinical experience preferred.
+ One (1) year supervisory experience, required.
+ Experience with student internship programs and staff training, preferred.
+ Previous experience working with substance use disorders and at-risk clientele is preferred.
+ Valid Driver’s License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** **:**
+ Supervises, guides, and directs outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling staff emphasizing/insuring the provision of qualitative therapeutic services in our Des Moines, Indianola and Newton offices.
+ Provides oversight for mental health, substance abuse, trauma, and personal growth related therapy services to clients. Understands advanced psychosocial theory and methods to counseling services for individuals, families and groups with appropriate regard for the complexity of given problems.
+ Provides crisis intervention and conflict resolution assistance. Demonstrates ability to differentiate between emergency and non-emergency tasks and responds accordingly. Provides immediate supportive counseling and necessary assistance to clients dealing with a crisis or emergency situation.
+ Provides leadership and support to House of Mercy’s outpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment programs accreditation and compliance initiatives/activities.
+ · Consistently monitors and evaluates the quality and consistency of therapeutic services provided to children, adults and families served by House of Mercy.
+ · Evaluates overall programming to insure that it is researched/best practice based and tied to measurable outcomes.
